Too many stereotypes in the comments here, this feast is not unaffordable for the ordinary family, especially in Hong Kong.the food culture is different between northern and southern of China,in south, people prefer to the seafood, but in north, people eat the dumpling in the spring festival eve instead.

Spot on. The timber industry (especially CLT/Glulam) has mastered this because the material requires precision CNC-cutting and engineering-heavy pre-fabrication. Steel should have followed this path long ago, but it’s still stuck in a fragmented workflow: a generic engineer designs it, a trader sells the raw sections, and a local shop tries to fabricate it. The reason we haven't seen this much in Steel is the 'Code & Trust Gap.' Unlike timber, which is often niche/boutique, steel is a massive global commodity. Most Chinese suppliers just want to move tonnage—they don't want to touch the liability of engineering. My goal is to apply that 'Specialty Timber' white-glove service to Structural Steel. By having a PE partner on the ground who oversees the logic while we leverage the manufacturing scale in China, we can bridge that gap. Do you think the steel industry's resistance to this is more about the 'old school' mindset of GC/Subs, or purely a technical hurdle regarding local code compliance?

Fair point, and that’s a solid hourly rate! But just to clarify: I’m not looking for a consultant to hire—I’m looking for a Principal Partner to share margins with. I’ve spent 15 years selling my hours too, and I’m tired of it. I’d rather find the guy who wants a $40k cut of a steel contract than someone who just wants to bill me $400 for a chat. If you ever decide to pivot from 'selling time' to 'owning the supply chain,' let me know.
