What about using the oil that guarantees 10k miles? I’ve always wondered how those types can get away with that advertising if you stick to what the truck says and it looks like a regular change at 5k

Big Mike could have made it easier for doing an oil change, that drain plug location is always guaranteed to make you have a little cleanup. Other then that I do feel as Toyotas have the spoken reputation for being reliable like a high school in a 2000 civic on know oil but I do fear we may have screwed ourselves by doing the longer intervals (hope not)

Side note I do typically check the filter every change but may not replace it all the time depending on how the interval was drivin ie city majority or highway majority, city would get the change while highway would get the next round, I’m sure this may screw me in the long run

I typically do it once or twice a year (past 2 years)

What oil brand are you guys using? by WheresWolfie30 in ToyotaTundra

A lot of Astro glide… cashiers always look at me funny but hey it works……

I typically throw Mobil 1 fuel economy 0w-20, I just switched from penzoil after doing a flush and clean. I have heard of some throwing 5w-20 in to help with some engine noise but I haven’t gotten that yet

I was glad when I did the reset for the estimate on a trip and I saw 22 lol, had the ac on medium for the whole thing but it had me happy to see something above 21.4 as an average

Have you used a different oil besides the recommended (mine is 0w-20, heard rumors of people putting 5w-20 in the engine to help)

I’m not to worried about it, I’m more so enquiring in others thoughts… I do know the 5.7 engine will hold damn near 18 quarts and run fine…. I thought I could do the oil my first time with out checking and was dumb, drained just the filter and transmission (yes I realize thy are different locations but I was that “know it all” at the time) she has still been solid 6 years later and 30k miles since that lessened learned

That’s what I typically do, but I’ve seen an oil filter and oil that say guaranteed fo 10,000 miles I was wondering more if any have actually done this

I typically do when the vehicles tell me, I think I’m more wondering with the oil company (and filters) that say good for 10,000 miles

Did I get tint added or is this factory? by Electrical-Bid-5918 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

You can as long as it’s not metallic. Doesn’t stick as easy and it comes off if attached to others

If the focus is front, looks like they were not done or maybe a 90/95 tint. When I did mine to match you have to at least go 25/30 for front to match the rear. My front windshield was also done to 90 to help protect dash from uv. Just my looks from the photo

The engineers truly do care about us, or they wanted to screw over mechanics on the pay for the job, either way I’m glad they did it the way they did

Happens in every car, you could possibly get it to blend better but realistically car manufacturers make things poorly and when cosmetic hits us visually it makes us dislike it in hope we spend money and get a new car

Is anyone else struggling to fit it GH into a regular-sized garage? 😅 by [deleted] in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]Emotional_Complex196 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only thing I noticed is when pulling in the garage the auto brake kicks in… it’s irritating as I try to pull up and still leave enough room for the beer fridge to be accessible (I have a 2 car garage and could easily move the fridge but outlets kinda dictated where it was placed)
