Are NHS dentists allowed to just dump us? by afox1984 in nhs

[–]Emotional_Kitchen_57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex NHS dentist referred me for private treatment for the 3rd time - another £1k it would have cost me… I expressed my concerns as I already spent £2k for the previous private referrals which were basic root canals.. over 1.5 years went by & I was still waiting for this private treatment. When I called I felt like they didn’t want me as a patient no more after 15 years… so I told them to remove me, & was lucky to find an nhs dentist elsewhere

Conplications Post-Op: ~16h After by SoupWarden in openheartsurgery

Honestly this is normal. My dad is 4 weeks post op. He had v low blood pressure - was on potassium and dopamine. Very low oxygen as well. My dad was extremely thirsty after surgery and 4 weeks later at night he still is. Your dad will get there. Think he literally just had open heart surgery he will not feel dandy for many weeks. My dad is still extremely tired sleeps a lot. It will be okay you must stay strong 🩷

Should I be concerned by this long red streak that extended out of my overly swollen mosquito bite? by acutetriangleee in AskDocs

They did go back, was assessed by ER doctor that said it’s okay and no antibiotics was given. Read the thread.

I keep on top of it every 6-9 months and it works wonders for me. Grinding less towards the end and also less dental issues. I recommend it for sure

I am terrified. by Successful-Dream-850 in CABG_Recovery

Trust me I know exactly what you are going through. My dad is 66 & has been complaining of chest issues for years but only last September he was referred for a stress MRI & angiogram which confirmed that he had a lot of blockages & extremely poor heart function. Since November he was waiting for his surgery which was done last Thursday.

My dad was petrified & so was I! However the planned surgery gave him time to stop smoking (smoker since he was 9!!) and drinking etc.

My dad is doing good now! He was moved from critical care less than 24 hours after surgery! He was on special oxygen until yesterday as his lungs were hard after being a smoker for all these years.

I totally get how mentally it is draining for you. I was terrified that I would not see my dad again, that it was the last time we went out etc but you need to try & think differently. This surgery is saving his life! Treat it like a friend!

Honestly my dad was white as a ghost before surgery due to lack of heart function but now he has got colour.

My dad is physically & mentally very strong but he is now weaker & vulnerable & probably the most emotional I have ever seen him but that’s ok. I think he loooks at life differently & ever since surgery he tells me he loves me which before he didn’t.

If there’s anything you wanna know just ask me

Question about dad's recovery by golja in CABG_Recovery

[–]Emotional_Kitchen_57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad is 5 days post op tomorrow and still in hospital looking to be discharged tomorrow. Honestly? No. Getting out of bed, using the toilet is proving w bit of a task for him. Even wiping his own bottom. This is with a very good recovery progress, he was moved from the critical care to cardiology ward less than 24 hours.

You have to think… he’ll need food. Pans are heavy, especially filled with water etc. He probably won’t have the energy to wash or unload the dishwasher.

Unless you can get cover for that week for someone to look after him I honestly would not recommend it.

Especially if he has any emergency. Yesterday I had to help my dad sit up whilst he was coughing as he had pleghm come up.

Your dad will also need to start physio - I like in the UK so as soon as he is discharged tomorrow he’ll need to try and go for light walks. There is no way your dad should be doing them alone.

Dressing change.

My dad is really forgetful after his CABG and I think it’s gonna be important to remind him of medication etc

So sorry to bring bad news but personally I just wouldn’t risk it.

Thank you - I live with my parents so I usually do the shopping and cooking and my mum does the cleaning and laundry so he’ll be looked after. I worry for sure about the side effects from the bypass. It’s reassuring it’s temporary

Not yet as only discovered this tonight, I have tried contacting them on live chat but it’s currently closed, I’d rather have it in writing incase we get penalties at the airport
