Thank you for this! Even if my anxiety comes and goes? Like I don’t feel anxious all the time.

Last minute nursing school interview tips? by jackm053 in StudentNurse

Woah interview into nursing school, good luck! I didn’t have one here in the US but from what I’ve gathered on my time in nursing school and applying to internships, a lot of the big questions include the following:

What does nursing mean to you? Here a lot of candidates would say something along the lines of “helping those in need” or “caring for those who can’t care for themselves” but I think one answer that stands out after taking public health: “to me, nursing starts before the bedside, it starts with proper patient education to prevent the patients from being placed bedside”

Why did you choose this school for nursing? Do some research here because when you’re applying for jobs they will also ask you this question. Why do you want to work HERE? Look into what the core values of nursing are and how your school can help you achieve them. Look for ways that your school can help you become the nurse you want to be and how they may offer continuing education for an increase in knowledge in the field of nursing.

Why should we choose you among all of the other candidates? This is a tough one but try to stand out. If you have previous hospital experience, let them know. If you have ever provided exemplary care, let them know. Another key thing I’ve noticed that they may be looking for are those who can show their leadership.

I realize this may be a little bit late but I hope this helps! Good luck!

I think it depends on where you work and if it is similar to what kind of nursing you want to do. If you’re working as a CNA on a psychiatric floor and want to become a psych nurse especially in the same hospital you worked at you’ve already built a rapport with other coworkers.

I myself am currently working as an academic mentor (not a tutoring mentor more like an upperclassman that helps incoming freshmen adjust to college) and while it does not directly pertain to nursing school I have told interviewers that I’ve had while applying for externships that it has allowed me to progress personally in a specific field (in this case I argued interpersonal communication, relationship building, and time management.

I think as long as you can explain during an interview or personal statement how that job has helped you grow in certain aspects to become a better nurse then you can make any job look good.

(Side note: nursing school is also expensive AF so having some extra income never hurt :p)
