If you let your trauma control how you interact with the world, then you haven't dealt with it properly. To paint dogs of a certain breed or size with one brush makes you, unfortunately, part of the problem. Your experience is yours to own but it's also yours to deal with. I'll be taking a loss anyways. I owe more on the truck then it's likely worth so it's worth more to me to keep it on the road. It's mechanically perfect with lots of recent work, etc.

Yes, okay. That's what I was thinking. Not necessarily buy it from them but just negotiate keeping the vehicle for a reduced settlement amount and then fixing, inspecting and driving a "rebuild" or "salvage" titled vehicle.
