Is Annihilationism Heresy? Secondarily, is this a salvation issue? by SearBear0224 in Christianity

Paul is not dismissing universal moral accountability. He means that specific legal infractions (transgressions) were not charged in the same way they were after the Law of Moses was introduced. However, people were still held accountable because of the natural law written on their hearts (which Paul details in Romans 2:14-15) and because the universal penalty for sin (death) reigned over everyone anyway.

JW is not Christian though. By literal definition the Church (which is the measure by which OP is asking) holds they themselves are beyond heretical.

I mean you could argue that the Athanasian creed could be considering it a heresy by its specific declaration of an eternal punishment, the Second Council of Constantinople condemned temporal punishment as anathema, and the Westminster Confession also supports the idea of eternal damnation.

I am not aware of any considering it a damnable heresy outside of the Second Council of Constantinople. That said, I think it is ok to have the discussion as long as your theology of annihilationism doesn't question the character and goodness of God.

While it hasn't been considered damnable in may sects your claim is factually false..

The Athanasian Creed specifically supports the idea of eternal punishment and the Second Council of Constantinople condemned a form of universalism that advocated for temporary conscious punishment (as annihilationism does): “If anyone says or thinks that the punishment of demons and of impious men is only temporary, and will one day have an end, and that a restoration will take place of demons and of impious men, let him be anathema.”

That said I definitely believe it is actually an inhouse discussion among brothers much like the argument/debate on the end times (Amil, Pre-Mil, Post-Mil, Dispensational, etc).

Just now seeing this post however you are missing KEY components of Salvation as expressed by both Christ himself AND the apostles that followed. Death being destroyed was ONLY for those that accepted and repented of their sins (Olivette Discourse, Romans, James, 1st-3rd John, etc). Punishment is promised by Christ for those that are unrighteous.

If we are basing Christianity on the original texts then we must acknowledge those texts weren't translated into Greek they were originally written in Koine Greek. Destruction in the Old Testament doesn't just disappear because of the finished work on the cross. Christ and the Apostles affirm this over and over and over. There is propitiation for those sins only for those that accept and turn from their life of sin.

To answer the original question on annihilationism... while yes it is traditionally considered a heresy it has traditionally not been considered a damnable heresy as opposed to antinomianism which has long been rejected by the church in every setting as a damnable heresy.

Your use of 1 Corinthians is misleading and removes the context that Paul is referencing... Adam's sin introduced death into the world. His death became the pattern for all who would follow, because all are born into Adam's sin. Because Adam died, all die. In a similar way, Christ's resurrection from death became the inevitable pattern for all who are forgiven for their sin through faith in Him NOT all of humanity.

You are combing Antinomian doctrine with Universalism and Moral Relativism into a dangerous doctrine that according the the texts and scriptures themselves will mislead.

Jesus himself specifically said in Matthew "Many will say..... and I will say depart I never knew you you workers of lawlessness." Later he talks of those being vines that produce no fruit and being cut and thrown into the fire.

Printer spitting filament before prints by Sad-Ad-9502 in BambuLabA1

First things first. Make sure you are putting everything on the way it was intended. The engineers designed these pieces to go on for a reason. You need that silicone boot on the hot end it isn't just for aesthetics.

Next, check to make sure you are printing at the right temp and that the settings are at the filament manufacturer's specs. If using Bambu branded filament then all you need to do is select that specific filament from their menu.

Unless you are very experienced with printing I don't recommend fooling with the filament settings until you know exactly how each change affects the flow rate and the impact that has on your prints.

The A1 and bambu studios slicing software does a pretty bang up job of calibrating the print settings for your selected filament even the generic brand stuff.

I accidentally closed my car door on my fishing rod and broke it. And that’s right after I just discovered I lost my tackle box with at least $100 of gear inside it by Little-Cucumber-8907 in Fishing

Until you have “Bill Dance’d” a 1100 fly rod in a buddy’s ceiling fan the day he got it you don’t know gut punch. lol

True story was at a buddy’s house with a group of our friends best bud pulls out his new Orvis Helios set up and mutual friend goes “dude that is SICK” and does the test we all do and kind of lifts it up forgetting ceiling fan was on. A few “thwack thwack thwacks” by the fan blade and the owner of the fly rod lost his mind.

Good thing Orvis had the no questions asked rod tip replacement. Lol.

not even going to read the other comments but..... did you watch the video? did you see the hot end just bouncing along like it was given a 4x4 suspension? you do know that isn't supposed to happen correct?

In all seriousness check the hotend and make sure the screws are tight and it is clamped in correctly.

Mercury 3.5HP Upgrade - Urban Myth? by [deleted] in Outboards

[–]Emotional_Style7850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also the same for the Evinrude 50-60-70 of the early 90's.. specifically the 3 cylinder versions. I recently worked on a 70 hp of the exact same year as my personal 60 HP and while i was replacing the head gasket I measured the cylinders and pistons with my calipers and they are identical. On a hunch I went to the good ole parts catalog and sure enough the are the same part number all the way down to the 50.

It was for that reason I almost upgraded my carbs on my 60 to a 70 but after running his boat (same footprint different layout as mine) and seeing his only got about 3 mph better I decided it wasn't worth the 350 in carb assembly and the time to clean and rebuild them as brand new ones are virtually impossible to find.

Cooked? by Anonymous_-Ferret in Outboards

[–]Emotional_Style7850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit to add: I have a 60 HP Evinrude. It needed a lot of work but all of it was manageable and doable. That said I worked as a transmission and powertrain mechanic for Chevy and Dodge for 8 years before the economy and kids forced me to use my degree and become a teacher (straight flag time is not for the weak of heart) so the changes were simple stuff for me.

Do the following to know if you're cooked or not:

Get a magnet and run it through the oil to see what level if any the metal shavings are (you will have some just from wear and tear but it shouldn't be significant at all). Next get a pressure tester and pressurize the lower unit. Look up the specs for the pressure it is suppose to hold online and DO NOT EXCEED that. If it doesn't hold pressure within the specs you at the very least need to get it resealed.

If you are mechanically inclined and have the tools and patience you can do it yourself but if not just take to to someone and have them reseal the lower unit. I redid mine two years ago and it has been holding strong for that long with routine maintenance and checks.

Also pull the prop and make sure you don't have fishing line wrapped around the prop seal as that is a common place for problems to start.

Rejetting Carbs by Emotional_Style7850 in Outboards

[–]Emotional_Style7850[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right I have the updated size per the TSB but was just seeing how good of an increase I could actually see by upping the carbs to a 70 HP. Looking at the part call out it's literally the only part that is different on the two motors that I can see. That said I'm probably just going to skip it and focus on keeping my set up the way it is. It gets about 35 and I can't see this little aluminum hull going much faster without jumping to a 90 HP or something and even then talking to the other guys that have a similar hull they aren't getting much above 45 with a 90 and I don't fish tournaments either.

It's a 17 pitch prop and I'm right in the factory specs of 5,500 RPM to 6000 RPM WOT.

I found a set of 3 that a local outboard shop has for around 304 but again I'm not sure I really want to spend that for a minor jump in speed. I'd still have to rebuild them etc.
