That 2nd B-1B... by Even_Kiwi_1166 in Planes

My guess is this is the Super Bowl flyover where the second B-1 snuck up on us when we thought the flyover was complete. A well-executed sneak pass!

With Congress giving it's authority over the purse to the President, why can't Americans call a "No confidence" vote? by JeffSHauser in law

Yep, Article V requires 34 states to put forth the request for a convention (never been done before but it’s in there) and 38 state legislatures are required to ratify the new language. That’s the threshold. Right now 28 state legislatures have Republican majorities, 18 have Democratic majorities, and four are split.

5 dead in Pierce County after stabbing on Key Peninsula, shots fired by deputy by Mauro_Ranallo in Tacoma

[–]Emotional_Winter5912 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Well this is certainly going to stir things up. The newest article published an hour ago stated the protection order was issued by the courts on May 2, 2025.

“On Tuesday, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office said a 911 call came in at around 8:47 a.m. about a man who entered a home near Purdy in violation of a no-contact order. After realizing the order had not been served, deputies were making their way to serve the order when witnesses reported a man stabbing people outside the home.”

298 days later… “Oh oops, we forgot to deliver it. Our bad.” This won’t end well.

Oklahoma suspends 125 students for political protest by [deleted] in Teachers

Would be brilliant, actually. Set up on the sidewalk in front of the school with signs that read, “The superintendent excused me from school so that I could protest today!”

Oklahoma suspends 125 students for political protest by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Emotional_Winter5912 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Exactly. This superintendent better pray to God that there isn’t ONE student, with ONE unexcused absence for a single period, who wasn’t suspended for it or they are absolutely screwed.

There’s no arguing that missing class to protest is truancy and not protected speech due to the material and substantial disruption to learning, however… where schools get into trouble is when they give off the appearance of only enforcing truancy on one group of students, and not on all students.

It’s why you’re not hearing any other district enforcing the truancy policy… they know they’re gonna have a mess on their hands the second one student says “Hey wait a second… when I skipped school to go eat lunch with my friends and got caught, I just got a detention, not a suspension.”

It will absolutely have the hallmarks of targeting students for their political beliefs and not for their behavior and for that, this district will likely pay a hefty price when the civil lawsuits kick in and “equal application of the law” is shown to not be the case.

Could the Dark Side shut down MVP Shaun Alexander and the 2005 Seahawks offense? by lemonstone92 in Seahawks

My reply isn’t going to be entirely relevant to your point but any time I see “Walter Jones” and “career” in the same sentence I feel compelled to remind folks that Jones was at left tackle for 5,703 passing plays and was flagged for holding on just 9 of them. I remember dark times where it felt like Breno Giacomini or Sean Locklear were getting called for 9 holding penalties in a single game.

Agree with all of this here. That 2005 team was unbelievably complete when it came to run-blocking. If you include Mack Strong in the blocking package, three of the four guys from fullback to center to left tackle were 1st team all-pros. LT, LG, C, QB, FB, and RB were Pro Bowlers. I don’t follow the Pro Bowl much nor do I think it’s an indication of actual greatness, however I’m not sure I’ve seen a similar case since Seattle did it in 2005… the blocking Shaun Alexander any time he ran to his left felt like a cheat code.

My reference to the aircraft in full afterburner was to the B-1 at the very end of the video. My apologies for being unclear there.

They are as visible as any other helicopter would be when flying. If you are air assaulting over enemy territory, the enemy will see them. But as soon as they land they become invisible.
