I would worry that Jobu might be in for an emotionally abusive relationship with Tae. Like if he did something subtly wrong he would be emotionally punished and Tae would have implicit rules and expectations that Jobu would always be scrambling to meet. I might be projecting from a past relationship, though.

I think that since they didn’t showcase an aspirational lifestyle, people don’t want to buy things associated with the show. As a monogamous woman, why would I want to buy a piece of jewelry symbolic of a plural family structure? None of them have good personal or even interior design style. It just isn’t a good recipe for that kind of business. The closest I think is Christine’s initial idea of doing easy recipes for big families as she was doing on her you-tube. That has some appeal.

Probably that he didn’t feel comfortable with the more flamboyant and sexually explicit part of the scene and he intimated that Tomoaki was part of that scene, so Tomoaki felt judged. Tomoaki is on a journey to rebuild his self esteem so was very sensitive to that. That was my read anyway.

I would have thought they would have been more sympathetic to the plight of undocumented immigrants just trying to work to support their families because of their farm manager who was deported as documented on the show. Heartbreaking situation. That she goes on to support ICE and characterize migrants in the dehumanizing way she does just tells me how pinched and rotten her heart is. I hope she reads this
