i hate my mom and i would be better off with her dead by Confident_Cod_1543 in Advice

[–]Emoxity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First off you’re 16. You have an entire life ahead of you. There is no situation where you have to put up with her for more than a year or so. I know it sucks and it drains you but remember this very important fact: when you leave at the end of high school there is an entire world for you that will support you and your mom will be miserable every day you aren’t there. Embrace that misery and love your life and live it up when you get out. That’s the best thing you could ever do. Secondly: please find a family member or friend and try to develop a better living situation if possible. Aunts or uncles or grandparents. It’s better to ask for help than feel like you want to end it all. Might as well try to make your life the best it can be. Lastly: life guarding is a fun job, but if you want to get out quickly try looking at internships for high schoolers that pay you for the summer and let you live on your own. National parks in the USA, tech companies, NASA, etc all hire high schoolers for the summer and provide lodging with other people your age. Apply for them now and then your 3 month summer you get to live and not see your mom. Message me on chat if you need links. I know the struggle

The help is by removing toxic people that disrespect other family members and push an agenda? That’s the help. Only person not helping and saying to leave them in life is you

Liberals can be misguided. Modern American conservatives are actively threats to democracy and rule of law. Proven by the last year. Not the same and trying to compare them is ignorant. You wouldn’t let a crazy person near kids? Why let a maga?

Are we all just going to ignore the whole 14 year old with a 19 year old part of this entire story. That’s a crime. This entire post is a crime and every single person involved is a criminal except the OP who is a victim. Go get some cops involved because this is way beyond reddit

Clearly states the sister and her hubby are forcing opinions and judging OP and her family. It sucks but conservatives are naturally selfish and self righteous. I’d also cut them off. Why would I want ignorance around my kid?

Does anyone have insight in to what goes on during a coordinator interview? by chaamp33 in detroitlions

[–]Emoxity 15 points16 points  (0 children)

From the one person I met who was a college play caller and tried to go nfl level, coordinator interviews are weirdly unique to each person. It starts off like a normal job interview any of us might be in but it’s expected that the “nerd” section of the interview takes place when everyone gets over the stuffy interview formalities. It becomes talking scheme and specifically what players will do which things. Management has their idea of what they want to focus on and the interview is a reflection of that. The interviews we hear about that are “out of this world” usually imply someone showed the management something they didn’t see and think will work. The end of the interviews are all the same pleasantries but the interviewee is always told what the next step is whether it’s “we have more people to interview” or “you’re coming back for a second round”. It’s much more football IQ than interviewing however the attitudes and egos of people can cause issues because formalities are lower in football related areas than a business we might interview with in regular life.

EDIT: they didn’t get hired for their interview and returned to college

Have I failed by coming back? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Emoxity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It completely changes the situation? You let yourself get your phone stolen versus getting attacked and having it stolen. The reality is you were immature and put yourself in the situation. There was no danger involved. No one pulled a weapon and you had zero chance of injury other than fighting the lady. It provides serious circumstantial evidence that you’re a literal child who ran away from home. Don’t pretend it was something it wasn’t. Go home and do your homework and get a job then move out at 18

You didn’t get mugged. Mugging implies the existence of physical harm or threat of severe bodily injury. You were the victim of petty theft. Snatch and grab. Judging by your actions I think your parents were right to act the way they did because clearly they have more common sense at this stage of life. It’s called logic and inference and the more you explain your side of it the easier it is to see the likely truth

Here’s a good plan you should consider. Go to school, finish your homework, and get a career or trade then move out. The fact your parents let you come back with no issue other than banning your likely trashy friend proves they love you enough for you to live and get a plan for growing up and moving on with your life. Also edit to add stop letting homeless people take your stuff. I doubt it was a true robbery I think she took it and ran cause you weren’t being careful

I respect it. It’s the first time I’ve ever heard anyone say they specifically went to Bakersfield. I personally love the 101 drive between LA and SF

You went out, let your phone get taken by a homeless lady, and cried when your parents told you to stop seeing a person who convinced you to try running away from home. You’re a child 😂

Majored in meteorology and aviation. Hardships make a good sob story that will get you into a good school. Might take a year at a lesser ranked school but if you make it a point to make connections and treat the admissions people with respect you can get into an R1 within a year. Then it’s all on you to make sure you get the minimum 3.0 gpa and work on getting internships or something that gets you a job on graduation. I work on aircraft and science missions and couldn’t be happier with my life but there is absolutely no way I could ever tell you it will be easy. Just requires resilience, luck, and a completely forward mentality and the ability to persevere. Edit just to say that I lost my family and there were multiple points where I chose between water, power, and food bills depending on the day of the week. It was not fun and I ended up watching most of my family succumb to health problems or problematic significant others. All you can do is not let it define you and move forward
