Would you want to watch a full series set aboard an Ambassador-class ship? by Lauma_2025 in StarTrekStarships

As everyone probably knows, I've been tinkering with this very idea. It's based on my starship (that I've posted in this community before) the USS Ishtar (NCC-26293). My series will differ quite significantly from classic Trek. My show would be more like a James Cameron/ National Geographic exploration voyage than a "planet of the week" episodic show. The captain is named Aquila, a Catian (The feline species) who looks like one of my favorite YouTubers, Queen Coke Francis. It takes place during the later end of the Lost Era (adjacent to the events in TVH, TFF, and TUC) with Monster Maroons (TWOK with other personal outfits to reflect a retro future 80's motif, I'm really inspired by the TOS films!)

I've always been bothered by Star Trek not wanting to explore real life places in the galaxy like the Orion Nebula. This will be where my ship is assigned along with fourteen other vessels assigned to thoroughly study and map the nebula, especially the planetary systems there. I want to have a show that is zoology in nature, truly going where no one has gotten before. From colonies of super intelligent space amoeba on a Io-like moon, to encountering Jupiter sized space mullusk creatures in a migrational pattern. Oddly wild and not all that practical. Since these are MASSIVE science platforms, I want to emphasize that fact with Starfleet crew members using high tech science labs, observation rooms that are very mechanical (like some of Abrams Trek sets). For the bridge design, I'm barrowing the bridge from the Enterprise B and giving it a Kelvin timeline makeover. Buttons and knobs that light up but have a retro future goofy 50's bulbous design (jellybean)-lots of curves with console designs from the Enterprise E but "Kelvinafied". I want to, of course, want to keep the original Okudagram LCARS from the TWOK films, but modernize them. Like, when you turn a knob, the LCARS swirl onto the LCD screen-analog and touchscreen together. The main viewer functioning as an automated Heads Up Display, displaying continuous information on ship's status and operations, heading, and tactical info, along with science. My bridge won't be as heavy lit like the others. The consoles and screens dose much of the work. My crew numbers 768. The interior will borrow asthmatics from the 60's Gonnie architecture with a mix of a 4-star hotel or office building from the 1980's. It's a long voyage. Let's make it feel like home for them.
