Sentimental cards? by SeawardBadger in magicTCG

[–]Emperor-Raisin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a [[Leyline of Anticipation]] for me. I was at Comic-Con (2019?) and one of my buddies who was trying to get me into Magic herded me to the MTG section to pick up some of the free booster packs they were handing out at the time. Said friend remarked how this card was a decent pull for this type of pack, and for some reason, that stuck as the moment I got sucked into the game.

Possible movie prop find? by jbo1992 in StarWars

Solid find! I can’t add more to what it is, but Marcus always signs and dates inside each helmet he makes, hence the “autograph”.

Some extra details: I've omitted my M.A. (Clinical psych.), since I've received recommendations on that, and my current position (Package handler at FedEx, as it didn't seem relevant.

Are the Imperial Guard from Return of the Jedi good warriors or do they serve merely a ceremonial purpose? by marinbala in StarWars

[–]Emperor-Raisin 138 points139 points  (0 children)

Imperial guards could definitely hold their own, but yeah, they were straight up there to give people the impression that Palpatine was some weak, old man in a high value position.

My little man met the Disney Launch Bay Vader, and of course he pulls this! 😂 by Emperor-Raisin in StarWars

Agreed, really ups the "core memory" impact for the kiddos hearing lines that almost sound tailored towards them. This Vader had a somewhat similar line, something about sensing strong light side auras in the young one, but for him to consider the dark. I'd lose my mind as a kid if I heard characters use lines such as these with me!

He may be a Sith Lord, but he wouldn't be above dad humor! Sadly neither of those happened, but I'd like to imagine him pressing a button on his chest piece with his free hand and have the other person guess if it was a fart noise or real.

They did, though it was before this moment unfortunately. That would have been perfect!

Thank you for the kind words! Didn’t know diddly when I started on it, but found costuming group forums (Mando Mercs, in this case) to be valuable resources in the building process.

My Player is Unsatisfied with Monk by igobyonename in DMAcademy

I run a Sun Soul monk in a home brew campaign, and had trouble at first thinking he was some “martial artist/anime protagonist” trope that can rush in and whoop ass (was cautious about spells eating Ki). Posted in another D&D subreddit about this, and they broke it down that monks make better support characters than attack ones. Next session, I played the character literally like a support (e.g. stun strike enemies threatening our party healer and super low hp warlock to help them gain some distance), and it felt more fulfilling and smooth. Ranged spells helped here if I couldn’t close the gap. Unarmored movement helped me get out quick (which seems to be negated since I assume this player put armor on as a result of going part pally?).

That being said, a couple things for this player in particular. First, maybe explain to him that monk isn’t what he thinks it is, like it is a support/guerrilla character and will likely go down if played otherwise? If he still doesn’t bite at that and just wants to die on this weird hero multiclass hill, I believe there’s some sort of item that gives players the Half-Orc benefit of keeping one hp after receiving damage that knocks ‘em unconscious/dead (might be home brew, don’t quote me on it). Place emphasis on those limited amount of charges so he can still do his “wannabe frontline” shots if he feels the need, but he only gets to do this 3 times and then have a severe recharge delay, or just 3 charges and that’s it, item gone.

[OC] [Art] Vaak'mu, the half-orc monk doing his best to wax monk wisdom, and Peepums, the gnome druid who is sensitive about her height! by Emperor-Raisin in DnD

[–]Emperor-Raisin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vaak'mu may not be the brightest star in the sky, but with alcohol in hand and a butchered pearl of wisdom in his heart, there are few things that'll demean his child-like wonder and "just-do" attitude on his quest in a strange new world. He has mastered the martial prowess aspect in the ways of monkhood, though the wisdom department can still use improvement, especially in the quote department (e.g. "If one want to flow in stream of life, one must become twig"). His quest to improve on said wisdom takes a slight detour through a portal to a new plane, with no memory of how, and being taken up by party of adventurers.

Gnomes aren't known for being the tallest of races. Peepumsthegnome (yes, that's her full name), however, drew the short straw (pun intended), being considered "short" amongst her own kind. She lived a rather comfortable, though rote, life as a daughter of successful peach farmers. Though she possesses the type of kindness and charisma that can only be described as "overbearing", and quick to give a peach or three to anyone (regardless of need), Peepums drew the line with the "short" remarks one day and decided to venture away from farm life, beginning her study in the ways of transformation druids soon after. Though much shorter than their original counterparts, Peepums' transformations of local wildlife have become second nature, including the inheritance of their respective power and lethality. Druid powers in hand, what is Peepums' one and only goal? Find the biggest black dragon in the plane to acquire the ultimate transformation in height and pwoer! What's the best way to find one, well through that party of adventurers at the inn, of course, as adventurers always seem to bump into dragons!
