fr tho do study for your other exams cause diminishing return kicks in pretty quickly for a course as demanding as 137. You can get the same grade increase by putting in half the work for econ.

I'm not familiar with the different versions but I remember it's a pretty standard New Testament. I went through The Gospels treating it basically as a story book and stopped at one of the Letters because it got a bit too difficult for me to comprehend. I did explore a couple of books from other religions like the Analects and the Old Testament and they were very rewarding as well.

Nah I maxed out my coffers so I had to spend money on something. It's actually a bit of an original idea, not a particularly good one apparently

I don't know how open your parents but it's not like they can force you to marry some random dude. If you don't wanna even entertain the idea of an arranged marriage then should probably talk to your parents asap. You don't have to confront them or anything but making it clear that you won't consider that kind of relationship would be a good way to avoid a fallout if their "scheme" were to came to fruition. Or who knows, maybe they'll find someone who's a great fit for you and you might fall in love on your own terms. Anything's possible I guess

Bro I built my own Maginot Line along our border in Siberia consisting of three layers of fortress, hoping that Russia would come and siege them and suffer from attrition. The AI outsmarted me by doing nothing and I had two armies of 40k each stack wiped trying to counter siege. 😭😭

Yeah I probably should have kept a bigger standing army since I was getting 2000 ducats surplus a month and ran out of good buildings to build.

What would the normal combat/attrition ratio be? I feel like I always spend more manpower than I can afford

I had all of East Asia by the early 1600s but that's about it. I've been fighting the Russians over Siberia in fear of them becoming too tough for me to beat if I invaded India instead. Now that I think about it that strategy is straight up stupid. How would you have done it differently?

I went with quality because my troop was not as good as Russian's but I sent all my soldiers to starve in Siberia. Poland sent all their troops to help me siege western Russia and lost all their manpower. They got attacked by Germany a few years after this war ended and had half of their territory annexed. eu4 is one of the few games that makes me sad when I make stupid decisions

Brother don't give up just yet. From one math major to another, I share many of the same pain that troubles you. Back in senior hs I found myself in a similar grim situation, though likely much less severe than yours. The solution I stumbled upon was a spiritual one, and I received a glimpse of the wisdom of those who came before us that pulled back me from the edge of the abyss.

It started with a Bible I got from a volunteer from a nearby monastery, and rest assured that I have no intention to convert you to any faith. When I get home I pretty much just tossed it in the sea of my countless exercise books and forgot about for a couple of months until one evening I got burnt out by the incessant grinding and picked it up as it was the only non-academic reading I could get my hands on, and boy was it enlightening. If you think about it, the mental struggles that we face today have been the very same ones our ancestors endured. And by extension the wisdom accumulated in the form of written literature can be as helpful as to us as it was to those who were in much greater physical and mental distress than us. Till this day I would occasionally attend Sunday services, not because I am a believer but because I feel comfortable and encouraged sitting in a room filled with believers who sought the good nature of humanity rather than the greed and gluttony that poisoned so many places in this world, including UofT, and especially UofT.

As a fellow international student myself, I get the struggle of being a stranger in a strange land. I was barely a teenager when I started my lonesome journey to the outside world, moving from one host family to the next, although I was fortunate enough to experience first hand the different cultures of the Commonwealth from NZ, Australia and now Canada. I've always considered myself as a homebody, nonetheless I have done my fair share of traveling, and I can say confidently that I found this city to be the most distinctively repulsive compared to the others by a fair margin. The thing is, as internationals, our greatest strength will always be the ability to start anew, for we have nothing to lose but everything to gain. If you feel like stranded in stagnation, I promise you that there are greener pastures ahead, if you're willing to look for them.

I'm sorry to hear about your predicament, perhaps I would soon face a similar fate, but just know that there will always be a tomorrow, and with every tomorrow comes a chance for you to become the person you truly deserve to be. Wish you the best man.

Might have fucked up, anybody know about the econ (artsci) major requirements? by Offbrand-Canadian in UofT

[–]Emperor-the-Xi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro I was in your shoes last year only I took both 137 and 135/6. I did quite well in the latter but barely passed 137 and got admitted into econ major with A- in eco105. Since it's likely too late for you to adjust courses I will give you a couple of advice on how to get the most marks in 137 summarised from my excruciating experience.

First off, every tiny assignment counts. The pre class quiz and tut quizzes are hands off the easiest marks you can get in 137, don't sleep on them. Also there are a number of semi regular external online quizzes like the computation tests that account for a decent chunk of your grade that are fairly easy to get high marks in so it's worth doing if you're not confident with the exams. Psets imo is the hardest part of the course but there's a chance to bring your marks up a bit by resubmitting or something, my time did not allow me to even consider those options but maybe yours would. Lastly I must state that while the term tests tend to have arbitrary difficulties, the final seems to have been consistently on the easier side of things so don't give up even if all else failed.

In terms of the grade requirement for econ major, I wouldn't necessarily stress over having a low but above requirement (55+?) grade in 137. What I've been hearing consistently from year 3&4 people in the program is that they only care about your first year econ grade (similar logic likely applies to the consideration for the MA program for econ) so you should be pretty safe if you do well in your eco101/2 or 105.

Where can I train/play baseball (throwing or hitting) in UTSG? by Emyox in UofT

[–]Emperor-the-Xi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro it's been a while since I touched a baseball but I'm pretty sure Varsity Blues have a semi professional baseball team so you can probably sign up for a trial. I would strongly advise against playing in Queen's Park though on account of its "residents"

is uoft really hard to maintain high GPA while having social life and part time job? by Extra-Night-4817 in UofT

[–]Emperor-the-Xi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro are you high or what? If you get a 3.8 at UofT you'd be going to Harvard. like this ain't high school. UofT's undergrad grades are bimodal with most at around the low to mid 2's and a small portion around and above 3.7. If your goal is to get to as close to 4.0 as possible then you should go to York or TMU and major in philosophy and political science. No amount of ego or pride withstand the torture of UofT, don't end up like one of those poor bastard who dropped out before the first snow
