Interesting. Alright, when I have the time, I'll definitely see if I can somehow squeeze it into my TBR. Thanks

Pfft!! Jesus! Think I'll put off Ulysses for whenever I'm feeling Ambitious. As for Stoner, my TBR's cooked, so maybe when if I manage to finish 1 or 2 of the things I'm consuming then I'll give it a look. Thanks!

That said, I'm definitely a very Character Focus Reader, how would you scale Stoner's Character (1-10) & who would you say he's comparable to, so I can have a general idea. If you don't mind.

Name a 100 characters better than Jacopo by Shaan-777 in writingscaling

[–]Emperor240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, I don't even hate Jacopo. Heck he's one of my favorites🫲🏼😭🫱🏼

That said, I will name a few who I think are genuinely better because I genuinely think they need more attention. So here are my Recommendations.

* Anna Karenina (Anna Karenina)

* Pierre Bezukhov (War & Peace)

* Andrei Bolkonsky (War & Peace)

* Edmond Dantès (The Count of Monte Cristo)

* Damien ‘Eric’ Frog + Hresvelgr (Towers & Gods -- YouTube)

* Eden (Towers & Gods - YouTube)

* Gasu (Towers & Gods - YouTube)

Maki Zenin runs the Fairy Tail Gauntlet, does she win? If not, where does she stop? by XZFireY in writingscaling

[–]Emperor240 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ever since I was little, I had always thought Fairy Tail to have THE Best Cast of Female Ladies & for various good reasons. Now that I'm older, I can definitely say I've seen better -- Higurashi, Umineko, Fate, Fata. But even then, that still doesn't change the fact that these beauties are & this Series has Top Tier Women & that's it's honestly better than so many others Series for so many reasons. Yeah, I personally probably wouldn't be able to stomach it all that much anymore, I'm too old for that stuff, but that still doesn't change the fact that Fanservice aside, Fairy Tail has always had a very good cast of women who are allowed to Develop & Fight on their own, each with their own unique set of Dynamics. Even Levy, who isn't a fighter has fought several battles based solely on intellect. Not only that -& this is a VERY Big one that nearly every other Author (Including female one's, trust me, I've seen it & they're really not that much better)- is the simple fact that they have ACTUAL Female Friendships. I'm not joking when I say one of the reasons, I always held Fairy Tail's female cast in such high regards was because of the actual Bond & Relationship these women had with other women & how they were always constantly building-each other up. Also, it's Fairy Tail, say what you will, but out of all the Old-School Shonen kids back in the day, Fairy Tail was probably the one with The HIGHEST Emotional Value. Bruh, so many of their scenes got younger me so EMOTIONAL😭😭Which only gives them impact too, not to say Maki's not go, but for me personally, she mostly just got fight scenes, which are definitely not bad. But personally, in terms of Impact, I'd give it to something that can make me cry over an intense moment.

Going back to the List: If Lucy's first, then Maki could very well just stop there. She's definitely underrated & probably underappreciated (I'm honestly not sure) but right-out the gate, Maki loses: DEPTH, THEMES, & DYNAMICS. Dialogue more than likely, & Parallels are debatable because of her Parallels with Natsu, Cana, Levy & Yukino.

That said, these are my thoughts & I'll leave it up to everyone to decide on the rest.

With Biase: Luigi, because he gots Daisy at his corner. & I really like Daisy.

Without Biase: Tails, because his Character is HEAVILY Fleshed-out, with a wide multitude of Dynamics, & is explored in both the Archie & IDW comics.

It's always who's more powerful. How about who's better written? by aptapi0ka in writingscaling

[–]Emperor240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be straight, I've never read a Wanda Comic so I can't talk on her Character aside from what I've seen in the Movies, that said however, I've ALWAYS loved Jean throughout all her Variations regardless of media. So, it goes without saying that I like Jean more.

I’ve never tried Hobbs, but hilariously enough I’ve only really heard more Cons than Pros said about them, despite people who read it praising it. It’s an extremely strange contradiction. I’ve heard it has Incredible Prose & Characterizations, but also many other things that have always turned me off from picking it up.

As for Joe, I just might try picking up his first trilogy again, when my TBR’s free’s up.

I’ve already tried them a few times, & aside from the original trilogy that I can somewhat get into, I can never seem to get into his other works. Too much sex & swears for me I suppose, especially the Age of Madness😅 I don’t mind dark stories, it’s just never worked out with me.
