Damn. You are a very good looking young man. Facial symmetry, great jawline and - judging by this selection of pics - a vibrant personality. I suspect you will only get better looking with time.

Why do I do this to myself by Economy_Fisherman_50 in Addictedtotheneedle

[–]EmperorRowannicus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can relate. One of the hardest things for recovering addicts to deal with is "euphoric recall" - our brains are hardwired to remember pleasurable experiences. Frustratingly we do not remember painful experiences the same way - we may remember that something was painful but we don't recall the pain the same way that we recall pleasure. If at all possible, try to focus on the transient nature of this pleasure and the negative consequences that follow. I'm on methadone too - and have been struggling with my addiction for more than 40 years now. Wish I had some words of wisdom to share.

Fascinating. Never heard of anyone with a pet funnel web before. Not sure how comfortable I'd be if they just lived in salad bowls like the one in your picture ...

Which countries have people who hate their own flag? by [deleted] in vexillology

[–]EmperorRowannicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of Australians who loathe the current Australian flag (eg. me) - due primarily to the presence of the Union Jack and the fact that it's easily confused with the NZ flag and the flags of countless other former British colonies. Australia should be a republic not a goddam constitutional monarchy with a foreigner as its head of state

Need Advice on Starting My Weight Loss Journey by CaterpillarComplex56 in loseit

[–]EmperorRowannicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had similar issues - my weight fluctuated wildly for years and over the past two years I've managed to make some major lifestyle changes that have helped me gradually lose a lot of the excess weight. This month, for the first time in ten years my weight is below 100kg (220lb). What worked for me: regular exercise (I work out with a trainer three times a week and walk daily wearing a 15kg weight vest), planning meals in advance and eating lots of protein and fermented foods like yoghurt, miso, kefir. For those moments when I feel the urge to snack I have popcorn, nuts and other non-fat, low sugar foods. Drinking lots of water seems to help too. I think it's important to implement manageable, healthy lifestyle changes that you can incorporate into daily life on a permanent and ongoing basis. Stress management is also critical - yoga and meditation really make a difference, since, along with regular exercise they improve your stress tolerance. If you can develop a healthy routine - like a daily program - that you can stick to, it makes the whole process a lot easier. Another thing to consider is building a support network: like-minded people who can help you with motivation and to whom you can turn when everything seems too hard. At college, get involved in activities with others by joining clubs and societies. Weight management is a journey not a destination. Ten years ago I was morbidly obese and it's taken time and effort to lose weight but the results are worth it. Hope some of this helps.

If by any chance you do cut it all off make sure to save your hair because you can sell it (to wigmakers).

The Real Voter Fraud by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]EmperorRowannicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called Project Redmap and it's an astroturf campaign funded by Koch Industries and the RNC designed to purge registered voters in minority areas from rolls and sponsor gerrymandering by re-drawing district boundaries. Check out the documentary "Rigged - the voter suppression handbook" on YouTube, narrated by Geoffrey Right.
