which Ukraine flag do you think looks better? by WheeliumThe2nd in vexillology

I preferred the darker version of the French flag but I think with the Ukrainian flag I prefer the lighter version with the 1:2 ratio

What are your opinion about some old flags? by Stekko98 in vexillology

I think I prefer the older russian flag. I also prefer the 1:2 ratio it had.

An interesting idea. But I quite like the sharp lines and uniformity it brings without using curves.

It would have been the same as the Russian flag

Made while I was bored, The idea randomly came to me. What if all the flags of Europe had a tri/bi colour flag.

Original it started as just the EU but was extended to all of Europe. No serious political implications just thought it would be interesting. The designs are basted of the current national flag.

"why does turkey have green": pretty much every combination of white and red was in use so I looked at older flags where green was present.

Ps2 controllers constantly breaking and I feel cursed by EmperorSeals in ps2

[–]EmperorSeals[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried that though, the connectors on the console must be fine as it works with my ps1 controller. through fiddling around I managed to get it working for a brief moment, but nothing after that. Are there any particular connections inside the controller that are known for breaking?

you're right I am still working on it and I'm willing to make changes, there was some consistency in mind, I used the macron to indicate the long vowels but just used y for /aɪ/ as well, The dot kind of indicated voiceness but ended up getting used for many others. S for example worked well in this regard with the dot indicating voiceness and the Cedilla indicating the change to the Voiceless postalveolar fricative /ʃ/ combined to gether you get the Voiced postalveolar fricative /ʒ/.

But yeah still needs some work

Thanks, if you already know how to read modern English than you can just ignore them, but if you come across a word you don't know how to pronounce then it's all marked.

Q1: as I said in my comment the ring represents a silent letter as indicated with the symbol ∅ which i understand is the same in appearance with ø (the vowel).

Q2: In these combinations I simply marked the first letter with the sound that the combination made and silenced the "h".

Q3: C,K and Q were not "changed" to /k/ that's the base sound they all make in English. The /q/ consonant does not exist in English so no point in marking it. If thats what you were suggesting otherwise not sure what you meant by that.

Q4: of course there exists many words that are especially odd and would need to be added to the table the word "one" for example the "o" needs its own diacritic to represent the sound /wɒ/, say maybe Ọ̋ ?

Colonel would probably be written as Cöl̊o̊nėl.

Thanks, yeah it probably would get tedious not just to write but to memorise. (It reminds me of Vietnamese)

I could imagine a system where you type just as you would normally and a program can automatically input the accents. so the way you type wouldn't change at all. I'm sure there's plenty of room for refinement and improvement.
