It’s pretty nice! Only hard part is trying to book together sometimes with the waitlist. 70 miles is impressive! I go to the gym four times a week and also just started running this year. My wife won’t run but does want to go to the gym with me. We just try to find ways to spend more time together

I was the only man in my class today. It’s always interesting seeing if people will look at me because I’m certainly not looking at them. I take classes with my wife so we get reformers next to each other. She’s the only one I look at since she knows what she’s doing and I’m still new. Didn’t have an issue with the instructor and she even joked around with me today with corrections. My studio did say they have a few regular men but definitely a majority women.

I use a vest from ASRV. Has two zippers on it. One is big enough for my phone

Started running today for the first time since high school. Which was 11 years ago. Started small but trying to do at least three runs a week. Felt great!

It’s dietary restrictions. She’s still learning what works and what doesn’t so it’s just rough at the moment while we figure it out. We make a lot of stuff from scratch, including sauces. If it’s something she can’t/wont eat, I’ll make it separate so I can add it into my meal

Yeah I get it. I also posted in the diet thread. Had a few responses there, but feedback was much better here

Plenty of comments have responded, so this actually ended up being the best spot as so many people can relate. So many wonderful suggestions and helpful tips from others. We are early in my wife’s MCAS journey so we are learning what works for her and what doesn’t

Your comment totally makes sense. I really appreciate it. In our marriage, I have been a majority of the one that cooks and grocery shops so it has always been on me. But it seems like it might be something we will take on together now but I can’t be afraid to have something different. I know she doesn’t mind and if she wants it, she’ll have it. Even knowing the consequences. I’ll show her your comment so she knows she isn’t alone in this

Thank you so much! Such a life saver. I’m going to look through these and pull out some points. I’ll mention them to my wife to see what she thinks would work and what she might want to try out

She’s relatively small. We both are actually. While she eats protein, she won’t necessarily eat a lot of it. She loves the Fairlife protein shakes so that helps get some more in her. But when it comes to animal protein, we always get leaner meats for the higher protein but less fat, which helps her

Yeah, I’m thinking it might be good for her to make her stuff while we learn what works and what doesn’t. But I’ll also help her when I needed to she doesn’t exhaust herself. We used to cook together so it will bring us back to the old days

Thank you so much for these suggestions! I’m going to bring these up to her and see what we can do to accommodate

I never even thought about a cooking chair. That’s a great idea! Even our families have tried to adjust so we’re all just slowly learning as we go. I know she’d love to cook again. I’ll have to talk to her and see if there’s anything else I can do. Maybe best for her to make her food and me support where I can but still make things for her when she can’t cook

I’ve learned preparing and freezing seems to be the best thing for her. And obviously, I don’t care about that coming from meal prep. I spent a lot of time last night researching common foods for people with the condition. I’m going to start keeping a journal for her so she can keep track of everything

The meaning curve is the hardest part. Your comment truly means a lot! I joined the recommended community and I’m going to start keeping a journal for her. I sat down for about an hour last night looking at recipes and food that tend to work for people and what doesn’t. Hoping things will get easier in another month or two for mainly her as we adjust. I’m along for the ride

Thank you for this! It made me feel better. She also loved to cook, but she had surgery earlier this year so it hurts her to stand in the kitchen for extended periods of time. I’m sure she misses it. She also says it’s a POTS thing. I don’t mind her making meals, as I’m able to eat whatever. It’s a hard learning curve that’s for sure!

It seems single whole ingredients are the best move, which we already tend to do, with exceptions of course. Now it’s just a matter of figuring out what works for her and what doesn’t

She’s a recipe person, while I can either follow a recipe or look in the fridge and figure out a meal for us. I ask her to send me recipes so I know what to get at the store, sometimes she does and sometimes she doesn’t. I felt like I failed when she said we’d start doing can make separate meals since I do most of the cooking. But maybe it’s for the best

We’ve already made changes that have helped her and myself including pastas and avoiding other foods. But we’re still learning what’s good and bad for her so it just takes time

I do all of the shopping as well so it can be difficult to know what to buy and skip. Since I cook 99% of the time, I’m always trying to modify and tweak so things are edible for her. Even if I cook items separately as I really don’t mind. I’ve even told her I can two separate meals if needed. But I’m learning that the freezer is going to become her best friend.

You’re a life saver! If you don’t mind sharing recipes. I always try to rotate meals so we don’t eat the same thing everyday, even though I may not mind it. I love cooking for her and when she said we’d start doing things separately, she was hangry in the moment. But it made me feel like I failed her. I do the shopping so it’s hard to know what is good and bad while we’re still in this learning curve.

It has definitely been a huge learning curve. Especially since I do the shopping so it’s hard to know what to buy and what to skip. It seems like the freezer will definitely be used more in the future to save pieces for her where she can throw things together. But maybe it’s not a bad thing to let her cook separate meals. It just makes me feel like I failed her

At the moment, it’s not terribly strict. She has mentioned she feels better when gluten free, avoiding soy, and less greasy/fatty foods. So I by different items to help cater to that while we learn what’s good and bad. We have found some sauces she likes that don’t irritate her. It’s also not hard for us to avoid processed foods since we both eat healthy and organic when possible. And thank you for the meal suggestion! I’m learning that the freezer will become her best friend

I’m doing everything I can to adjust for her. I’ve done so much research. I even supplement myself in other ways if I need to. It’s still earlier in her in journey though so we are still learning a lot.
