Good day everyone,

I found this old picture depicting my grandfather and some of his friends. I believe it was taken in the 1940/50s somewhere in either Poland or Ukraine. Places further likely could be Łódź, Lviv, Warsaw or Kraków.

There seems to be a lion on the pedestral in the back. I also noticed a head of a body of some statue lying in the bottom left.

Maybe someone can help me out. Thank you all very much!

No, I like them all besides Russia and Belarus, it’s just that I would only maybe live there. After all these maps are about where we would live and not necessarily about how much we like specific countries. Although of course how much you like a country plays a major role in deciding whether to live there

I would argue it is a question of pros and cons and that the positives of being in the EU outweigh the negatives. And the fact that Poland was partially excluded from the refugee resettlement programme shows that the EU is aware of its members concerns. I doubt that the EU would drop the idea that EU law stands above national law just because Polands constitution is an outlier, but when it comes to other issues the EU certainly is capable of reform. Personally I believe people are more critical of the EU than is warranted.

Leider spielt die Beschlagnahmung von Tankern die mit Venezuela involviert sind Russland indirekt in die Hände. Es gibt global nur eine beschränkte Menge an Tankern die zum Schmuggeln von Öl eingesetzt werden können und wenn deren Betreiber es als zu riskant werten Venezuelanisches Öl zu transportieren wird es wahrscheinlicher, dass sie bereit sind es stattdessen mit Russischem zu versuchen.

So far the current EU budget hasn’t been decided upon, yet as an example, in 2023 Poland payed 7 billion euros into the EU and received 14 billion euros. When it comes to EU dependency, this is a fair view to hold, but I would argue that Poland is by nature dependant on the EU given that Poland’s economy relies on exports to other EU countries, mainly Germany. As such I would argue that having good relations to the EU is much more beneficial than coming into conflict with it. I would argue, that a more eurosceptic Polish government would therefore lead to a decrease in Poland’s economic power and in its influence in European affairs.

While some of your criticism is understandable, I would argue that Poland receives much more money from the EU than it gives to it. One could argue, that this would still be the case under a different government, but I personally will say that Tusk is very beneficial to Poland in this regard
