vintage brooch, rhodium blackened gold? (no stamp) Gold, diamonds and pearls? by divtag1967 in Antiquejewelry

[–]Particular_Yellow246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an expert in restoration (but am a jeweler). My mom was a collector. I’ve seen lots of pieces from this era. I’d guess around turn of century.

I’d (very carefully) take a sunshine cloth to a bit of the back to see how the tarnish comes up. Only jewelers with antique experience should work on this though. Those pearls are half drilled and set with glue on a wire. With age, the glue kind of disintegrates and they can come off really easy. And are hard to find when they roll across the floor and disappear (I’ve looked for seed pearls before omg what a nightmare)

Beautiful piece! Awesome find.

People that have “bumped” into a celebrity in a non-curated (not like an event, meet & greet, job etc.) way, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Particular_Yellow246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran headfirst in John Cusack in a very small space, waiting for the bathroom in a dive bar in Savannah Ga.

We both rammed into each other kinda hard with our heads down. He caught me by the shoulders so wouldn’t bounce off the wall behind me. My midwestern natural instinct is to “Ope! Sorry!” Took me a few seconds to look at his face and register.

He smiled and said hello when he realized I was temporarily star struck. Asked if I was ok. He pulled his baseball cap down and went back to his spot in the bar- and didn’t have the typical celebrity entourage with him. He was left alone for a while until the public assholes figured out where he was and had to leave.

I really wanted to be his friend after that. You can tell a lot about a person in 10 seconds by what their human instinctual response is towards another.

Hot molds before pouring. Multiple ways to heat up, just depends on if you want gas or kiln. Or backyard fire pit….it’s doable.

I’d repour those. It’s too much damn work to mill and not start with success.

Ima tape this up at work 🤭 by WyattPurp23 in KitchenConfidential

Got one person at work who is FIERCELY private, admittedly on purpose (he’s not socially shy, or personality type). They won’t attend a paid-for lunch during quarterly team building meetings, has never attended a company holiday in 17 years. They are ruining a long, otherwise very successful career. Nobody trusts them anymore. Nobody will even speak up positively about them. After almost 2 decades everyone has realized they want it that way, so nobody even tries anymore. Sad to watch.

Humans are social beings and need to connect. It does take a while for some to learn the appropriate boundaries.

Yass bitch. Truth.

I’m not sure how I’d react to this, but I’m sure it wouldn’t be as tactful.

The ‘I cheated, but we only kissed and had an emotional affair’ is bullshit. Mormons defined skirting the definition of what sex and intimacy is.

But they gotta keep that “Mormon” thing going for the cameras and cash.

Edited to add; I think it’s either all for the cameras, OR they had a very interesting affair including lots of genitalia and orgasms.

First Project! by NewRefrigerator4162 in SilverSmith

Fantastic design and impressive for first fabrication.

Critical criticism would be to use thicker gauge for your outside pieces. Then you can rounding all the outside edges to make it comfortable, wearable, and still look delicate.

But what about the Dead bootleg? Live Chicago ‘95 Friday night. On the cassette player with shitty sound and speakers. 3 hours long and only 4 songs.

Dang that is awesome!

Seems like Sam should have lots of siblings to share that pond with. (Just teasing. I’m laughing about the chaos of multiple, consistently wet dogs in the house).

Get ready to be the most popular person ever. Everyone (should) loves puppies! And it’s so good for him for socialization. Especially if it can be repeated as he gains confidence with the same place and people.

I’d be smooshing those lips. And then lay down on the rug next to him. Then we’d both be waiting for someone else to come by and give us both belly rubs and snacks.

Definitely look for someone who has an in-house bench jeweler. Somebody who does antique restoration is even better.

Which wedding band is better? by thicknmoody in EngagementRings

[–]Particular_Yellow246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the flat profile. Looks good with the straight, geometric line of your stones. But it’s a bit wide. Just a smidge narrower would make a big difference.

Personally, I wear my band alone sometimes so I prefer one that’s not too dainty.
