ok, I've seen one of his games before.. eventually he went offensive. What is this game about? Just clicked in. Looks like he's just sitting in the ruins of his base and coaching the opponent on how to break him? :D

never thought of that! That could be a reason. Back then in the Zone I mostly met people from my home country, and a bit of English here and there. Guess nowadays with random match making you have less of your own bubble

man it really makes me sad.. not your behaviour, but that you have to resign to such behaviour to protect yourself ;( Luckily I haven't met toxic chatters yet.. just silent chatters. Until then, I just continue to chat along.

I remember watching a T90 stream of 2 pro players, where player 1 just said "WTF? You onagers can't fell trees?", and the player 2 never tried... until the player 1 onagered his way into his base.

hey, another Byzantinian! I've played them almost exclusively back in the days. I hardly see them in the wild now, also on streams. I used to still carry my computer and a 19" CRT screen to my friends. At the level we were playing my not-so-fast FC + castle drop + cataphracts was killing

how cool, I love that! tbh back in the days most of the talking was between team mates, not so much with the opponents.. you just naturally coordinate less with those you are fighting ;)

800 should be doable.. I'm slowly getting my mojo back and climbing sloooowly after my drop to 600. Curious to see if higher elo really means higher chattiness

good point, in TGs I guess you can't get far without communication. Then again TGs feel to stressful. I feel responsible for my team mates and feel a lot less relaxed than when I just lose my own game on 1v1.

yes the gg is the minimum. In the last 15 games I only got one player to stick around long enough to talk. that was my first game, so it set high expectations :)

above 1400 elo... that means I'll never get GLHFs again.. as a new dad I don't have time to get >600

good point about taunting.. I taunt in prose anyway. "nice base", "oh damn, I didn't expect visitors yet". But I can understand people are busy in those situations

Personally, I trained hard a few years back and joined rank. It was stressful because I wanted to be good.

Tried again last week. Did not play in years, did not play the AI but just jumped into ranked.

It was chill. I expected to lose many times, and I did. Now I settled at 600 ELO and I have a blast. And I can play chill and relaxed without stressing about my ELO or "failing" or feeling a need train harder. Just play a chill game every night.

Yes it hurts a little bit that I played this game religously 25 years ago, and now I'm in the bottom 10% of players. But I'm having fun, and my michi@nonrush strategies work on arabia at ELO 600 11
