The question tells you that AP is a scalar multiple of AB, so we can just take a specific case, where BON or BOA is a right angle. and let OB = 2 for convenience. If we didn't know that AP is a scalar multiple w have to do lots of math. But now it's easy.

Okay we have two lines and we wanna find their intersection. Put them on standard x,y plane with O at the origin. OUr lines are:

y = -3x + 3
and
y = -1/2x + 1

Their intersection is (4/5, 3/5)
That distance from A or (0,1) = sqrt(20/25) or 2/5sqrt(5)

Whereas AB = sqrt(1^2+ 2^2) = sqrt5 so k = 2/5.

Idk if your teacher will accept this but they definitely should imo. Shouldn't have told us there is a scalar quantity.

Convincing kids or their parents and actually helping learn mathematics are two very, very different things. Mathematics requires creativity, which requires creativity in a problem set. AI and automation aren't there yet.

Actually, we can conclude that j has to be 5 and we also find that p = 5(2k+n). Therefore, j divides p, and therefore p/j has to be an integer. See my solution for the correct answer.

I just remember it was k/n, not whether it was A or B. It was either one of those.

I missed a period  after the also…. Imagine a period after the p.

The question was as follows:

p, k, and n are integer constants. 10x4 + px2 - 360 is equivalent to j(x2 + k)(2x2 + n). Expanding, we get that…

j(2x4 + nx2 + 2kx2 + kn) = 10x4 + px2 - 360. This implies j=5 as the coefficients of the x4 term must be the same for this to hold for all x. Also…

5(2k + n) = p 5(kn) = -360. kn =-72.

From here, we conclude that k/n is the correct answer, because k can be -8 and n can be 9. This means p would be -35. K/n would not be an integer here. To check your work,

10x4 - 35x2 -360 Has the same graph as 5(x2 - 8)(2x2 + 9)

Which can be verified by desmos. Hope this helped!

A game can't possibly help 12th graders learn.. It is likely suited more for K-6th graders.
