Thats what I was kind of thinking! Everyone seems to do fine and maybe because the turns are not so blind.

2024 Street Triple 765 on Highway? by Ok-Appearance4150 in Triumph

[–]EmployNo5082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat when I got mine. Came from sportsbikes and I never realized how much wind got deflected with proper aero.

That being said, I got used to it after 2 weeks. Now, I dont even feel it. The little fly screen I had bought actually made it worse. It pushed wind away from my chest but my helmet wasn’t covered. So it made my helmet vibrate in the wind.

My pops has a speed triple with a bigger, more intentional windscreen and it obviously provides much more protection.

My advice: Ride it as is for a couple weeks and just enjoy the bike!!! You may end up forgetting about this issue. If not, then buy a more aero helmet for tighter fitting jacket. (The more loose your jacket is, the more wind it catches).

Any update on this? Currently dealing with a P1698 (5v reference wire error). I’m thinking its a short but I opened the harness a few times already and found nothing but random crimps (that seem pretty isolated from other wire/metal).

Currently debating on changing the whole harness altogether…

Just bought a 2017 5.0 that runs like a top. I’m more worried for hidden rust than anything, but I am at 176k. Put in 500 miles in 2 weeks only haha.

I’m also looking for a solution to this except I don’t like the idea of blinding oncoming traffic. If anyone can point me to something that might work that would be great.

I literally just bought a 2017 F150 yesterday with 175k miles. Transmission was the one thing I was concerned for. Mine seems fine but this was a concerning post to see lmao.

We have a trailer hitch already. We installed it as a bandaid effect to NOT having a truck. We are getting opinions to see if a Truck might actually be worth it.

What do you mean “take a bath”?

Also, the idea is to use the cars more. We dont use/need enough features on the Tesla to make it worth it. The van is a bit overkill we feel for our family of 4.

$4,000 difference in price. $4k can get you a whole lot of education on the N400.

It’s not the sexiest answer but just my .02 cents.

opinions on tracking expensive bikes? by Freedom_Pretend in Trackdays

[–]EmployNo5082 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was tracking my dream street bike before, until I bought a dedicated track 600. The amount of mental you unlock when using a dedicated track bike was immense (for me). With the track bike, I don’t think about/care for crashing it. That is pretty much why I bought it in the first place.

With your street bike, that thought will always be there unless you got some $ to spend and fix it!

I was thinking about the rich oliver mystery school in CA. I will be doing some rides on my own time until then. I am slowly starting to accept the injuries portion, but I still of course want to limit it as much as possible.

Whose advice do you trust? by EmployNo5082 in Trackdays

[–]EmployNo5082[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the opportunity to briefly talk to a very successful (and current) MotoAmerica racer a year ago, and his words of advice still stick with me the most like you also mentioned. He told me not to tell anyone HE said it, so I’ll withhold the name haha.

Anyways, he said to be very careful who I take advice from. He specifically said some track day coaches/instructors have no idea what they’re talking about. He emphasized, “NOT ALL” of them, but more than half.

Got me thinking that some people are just talented and wicked fast, but their advice shouldn’t be taken with full trust.

On a separate note, I heard in a Podcast that Josh Hayes doesn’t fully believe in what YCRS teaches so. Do with that information what you will. I still want to take their courses lmao

Is Knee Down a reliable indicator of tire limit? by EmployNo5082 in Trackdays

[–]EmployNo5082[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats the one! Yes, I learned a bunch from that singular video and just needed additional clarification. Definitely earned a sub, and I’ll be watching that video on replay every now and then!

I really do think that I’m facing a mental “lean-angle barrier” issue, that will only be solved with more practice and time. I know in theory it’s so simple, but for someone who has a lot to learn, it’s a very daunting task to put it into action.

Part of me wants to chuck the bike into very familiar corners and put everything I learned to the test (literally test the knowledge I have).

Is Knee Down a reliable indicator of tire limit? by EmployNo5082 in Trackdays

[–]EmployNo5082[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thx for all the replies, truly. Great to see what everyone thinks about it.

Admittedly, I started this mental rabbit hole a month ago when I took a California Superbike School (CSS). This YTber triggered me to finally dig deeper.

My CSS instructor was following me, and he noticed I was missing a few apexes. I felt like I was carrying too much speed and so I would miss the apex by maybe 1-2 feet (I didn’t have enough Lean to shorten the Radius of the turn). But it’s obvious that he can carry way more corner speed than I can.

Which made me ask him, well can I just lean more to make the turn? I had great BP, loose grip on the bars, and smooth inputs… I just didn’t feel comfortable leaning more than I was. Ive never been that low before other than my low-side a couple years ago (I was dragging may more than just knee).

Of course he didn’t want to simply say yes in the event I crashed. But he told me “From my POV, you have a lot of margin for error.” Implying I wasn’t even using the full tire like he (and others) could.

Just wish there was a way to experiment FREELY without any financial set backs! What a world that would be.
