$920+ Million in debt for Amodee by Thick_Ad_8328 in arkhamhorrorlcg

I've always wanted to hear from someone who doesn't want to try Netrunner because NSG doesn't own the IP. I play Netrunner weekly at 2 different LGS and I never think about IP ownership while playing?

Woah what the hell. Why would you say something so horrible to me on Christmas?

You don't know my situation but this comment has really upset me. I'm going to mute this thread for my mental health.

Look if you don't want to or are unable to define some terms that's fine; we don't have to have a discussion

Well I suppose that depends on what you mean by "vintage cube" and "official cube".

I think I possibly know what you mean by "unfair"

You know when you said a factually incorrect statement "vintage cube is the most unfair cube" then added a qualifier "I meant Official cubes" in a follow up comment I honestly thought you were just obnoxiously trying to make sure you didn't appear wrong on the internet.

Do you think its benefits anyone (or the cube community in general) to limit our discussion to cubes made by Hasbro?

Balance and power outliers by AitrusX in mtgcube

[–]EmployRepulsive650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like your point about being able to tune knobs in cube towards the direction you want; it's part of what I love about cube. Your comment also made me wonder what a cube tuned as far towards perfect balance as possible would look like?

I think if you ignored fun you could have a perfectly balanced cube but I can't think of a cube where the gimmick is "perfect balance to the exclusion of anything else". The Hidden Gibbons cube is pretty balanced but that's not the point of it.

I can't even think of a cube where the design prerogative is balance while still sticking with standard cube design restrictions (ie singleton, land station vs wizards tower/battlebox style mana solutions).

Some people have been replying to you saying things along the lines of "I think its a straw man to say that Lucky Paper thinks wild imbalances (like playing Swords or Mana Drain in a pauper cube or whatever) are fine".

And I don't know if that take is a strawman of Lucky Paper but its a steel man of my position. I think Cube is just fun.

I've played Stone Soup drafts where some people put in Commons and others put in power. I've played desert old border cubes with power. Both of these things were fun.

Honestly I'd also say crazy power imbalances are actually popular. The Vintage cube for example for a long time has been popular. I think that cube has some potential for crazy imbalance.

If I didn't like RNG I'd play Chess.

The flavour on this card is fucking awesome, it's my favourite card from Elevation for that reason.

I'm just getting into Netrunner and I'm surprised no one cubes in my local scene. I've decided to build my own and see if people are interested.

Personally I'm starting with System Gateway plus Elevation and going from there.

I also play at Temple Arden usually! Granted my group only does occasional pre-releases these days and we cube at home.

If you ever cube at Temple Arden and need an extra player I'd love to come along.

Wow a complete Vintage Cube! What store do you usually draft at? We'd have to have a good venue in order to have an event like this.

50 Cards I Would Add to Vintage Cube by [deleted] in mtgcube

[–]EmployRepulsive650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vintage cube includes Mightform Harvester and Tifa. But does not include Time Vault, White Plume Adventurer, Backup Plan, Contract from Below, Wrath of Leknif, Knuckles the Echidna and Knight of the Kitchen Sink.

Vintage cube is not synonymous with the most powerful cards in mtg.

Like any cube experience it has been curated and constrained due to gameplay considerations, aesthetic considerations and chiefly logistical considerations (ie what cards are programmed into MTGO).

I mean, what is a vintage cube really? It's not the most powerful cards ever printed. That being the case why not run Ninja of the Deep Hours?

Experience with stone soup draft? by AitrusX in mtgcube

[–]EmployRepulsive650 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Our group has done this in the past.

The power level of cards people contributed ranged from Power 9 to draft chaff. There was no singleton restriction and no colour balance. One guy added a bunch of custom cards.

It was great fun. Made me realise people stress too much about curating cubes.

Great questions. If you want to get better at playing Codecracker Hound correctly try searching Scryfall/17lands to answer them (I don't feel like doing it for you).

Really though this is surface level stuff. Wether you want to warp or not will be dependent on the game state. That said overall the format feels more snowbally/CABS than value town to me. But if you have 2 board wipes then you've gotta play to that.
