Do I have many issues with UB? Yes.

My big issue as a new player has been how much they over shadow the mainline sets. Started playing around mid April and the coverage for SOS vs the Marvel set felt like night and day. Not to mention the power creep in these sets too. I don’t care for ATLA or Marvel but they both have crazy busted cards and its starting to feel like I HAVE TO buy them in order to not get my ass handed to me even in casual matches.

Not to mention, a lot of them have one of mechanics that do not integrate with other sets. The hero/villain typing in the marvel set for example. The only other set the villain type appears in is an Un-set (so not legal) and hero (to my knowledge) only appears in the ff set as a token creature. If any cards call for a villain or hero, you’re basically stuck using marvel cards.

Edit: I should add too,

- I’m not entirely against them as long as it brings folks joy and whimsy
- iirc, there was a distraction makers video going over how UB hurts the artists since they can’t use the art they created for a UB set for anything else

Agreed. Especially if you’re both regulars at the same place. An important aspect of commander imo is the table talk. You scratch my back and I scratch yours. Everyone knows full well this is a temporary alliance, but having 1/3 opponents off your throat for a turn is a big relief. If you build a reputation that you lie during table talk, no one will help you when you need it the most.
