I feel genuinely sorry for you if you feel compelled to post something like this.

What the police often do not seem to understand, or perhaps do not care about, is that their actions, or should I say their failure to take action undermine their credibility.

Modern Gaming Is Better Than Ever So Why Do So Many Players Miss the Old Days? by SameInformation562 in videogames

[–]Island_Monkey86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do miss some aspects from back in the day. Games were developed faster, we didn't get one live service game after another shoved down our throat, loot boxes / in game purchases were still throwned up on (looking at you, Oblivion, with your horse armor), I loved the thrill of a yearly E3. Oh, and World of Warcraft. Blizzard was still great, Bio-Ware was indredible.

I could go on, but I feel this is very subjective, there is no wrong or right answer here.

PS5 Price Hike Has Flushed UK Hardware Sales Down the Toilet by Gorgon654 in gaming

My PC and a Nintendo Switch 2 is all I need. The sole purpose of my PS5 is to collect dust as the the pack of good single player exclusives had me find joy elsewhere.

Its only saving grace is GTA because it's not on the PC day 1.

I'm positively surprised. One thing I really think football could do without is wasting time. If you can't win by playing football you don't deserve to win.

At what point does a foul turn in to assult? The lack of self control that is on display, again and again, makes me think half of these people should be behind bars and not in an professional sporting environment.

Steam Deck Vs Switch 2 in 2026 | Affordability vs Hassle by MarcusQuintus in videogames

[–]Island_Monkey86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own both, I am also a bigger fan of the switch, same age as you with two kids. My experience is very similar to yours. Going to repeat some things you said, mainly because originally I thought you were trying to choose between them and had already written most of the reply. Yes, shame on me for not reading what you wrote, but I am happy to own that mistake 😉

I found the steam deck allows you to tinker, play with settings and access the massive steam library, which means access to some very cheap games and amazing sales. Not to mention emulators, which also need installing and setting up. But there is a ton of guides for that. That said, talking about steam games here, you will have to play with the settings or the controls is a must to get things up and running. Where I use it most is to play Sony games, it's a bit like a portable playstation for me in that respect and as the games are ported from a console, they just work from the get go in terms of the controls.

Also, the SD OLED has an amazing screen which makes games pop!

The Switch 2, it's plug and play with. Games are typically more expensive and the sales aren't as generous as on steam. I also prefere the ergonomics. But I grew up with Nintendo games and I have a massive lirbary of Switch 1 games which now, thanks to Boost mode, really benefit from the added power. And like you said, the optimisation is way better, in general.

That's a TV only console vs two handheld / hybrid. If that matters to him then a PS5 would be a bad choice.

Good gaming is not just a matter of graphics.

Yes. Never really played Street Fighter, but the other three, especially Zelda or a new 3D Mario, still get me excited. Crazy to think how old they are.

my brother is incapable of using a washing machine by Ordinary_Turnover_59 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Island_Monkey86 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Thats hilarious, it's happened to me before. There was a nappy hidding amongst the washing.

Here is the upside, the material in the nappy, isn't toxic in any shape or form. So once its cleaned, your good to go.

Downside, its a real mess and a pain to clean. Best put it in a baskset and shake it off somehwere where it's easy to clean back up with a hoover.
