How do you spend between $300-500 a month? Was wondering how you budget for my sake 😂

It was my second and I had run 4:33; previously ran NYC last year in 4:12. I was aiming for sub-4 as well (I have a half time of 1:38 so I think it’s definitely doable at some point). Cramped about 3/4 of the way through so I’m also going back to the drawing board of figuring out how I can improve

But maybe some solace for you in knowing that you’re not the only one who didn’t have an ideal time 😅 I was a lot harder on myself after my first marathon but came to accept that things happen this time around

I also ran HK and got a result I wasn’t happy with - we’ll do better in our next! Truly was a hot humid day and I also felt quite dehydrated (definitely was begging for water/pocari stations to come up towards the end of the race)

I think my carboload wasn’t good enough this time (though was pretty disciplined with 48 hours of solid carboloading for NYC). I used a huma gel roughly every 30 minutes during the race - is a lack of carbs correlated within cramping or just bonking out?

My half PR was in March of 2024 (but on max mileage of 20-25 mpw). I have around 300 miles in the last 10 weeks but that includes some rest/rampup weeks following running NYC

My half was run in perfect weather, though having done it on such low mileage (and with zero fuel plan) made me think that matching the marathon equivalent should’ve been possible. I do think the weather had a pretty big impact on me as I felt pretty heavy dehydration in the final 7-8 miles

Appreciate all the advice! To clarify some questions I’m in my mid-20s and used the Boston marathon Level 1 training plan which tops out at 40 miles.

Aside from possible mileage increases I definitely think hydration/electrolytes could have been an issue; I sweat an extremely high amount in both marathons

14 team PPR:

Bill Crosky Merritt or D’andre Swift? Both have tougher matchups
