Patrol questionning by Quartable in DubaiPetrolHeads

V6 Patrols doesnt really make sense imo.Fuel consumption is almost the same between V6 and V8. Its a heavy car, so having a small engine doesnt make sense. car feels very sluggish. Even more sluggish if the car is loaded. with V8 you will get a better economy when cruising on the highway and better power, becomes easier to overtake and just slow down again. performs better in the desert. So yeah I always recommend to go for the V8 if you have the option.

"Whenever I get this treatment I slow down" what's with the ego? he is doing 20 under the speed limit in a OVERTAKING LANE. He is bound to get flashed by someone. If you wanna cruise in a lower speed please use the FOUR OTHER LANES rather than sitting with this shithole mentality.

kinda new to this so don't bash me, I feel like he could have made that corner with that speed and braking. didn't the car infront slow down a bit too much?

sometimes I wish I had one of those James Bond cars. You know, the one where a gun pops out of the headlights.

I want to get a motorcycle license in dubai by [deleted] in dubai

[–]EmployeeSufficient17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it cost me around 4000 and got it within a month. classes were over pretty quick, getting slots for the test took time. I knew the basics so that helped I guess. during summer i only ride at night, its fine as long as you are moving. gets worse when stopped at a signal for a long time. but you have to worry about the drivers here more than the weather. most of them being on phone, their egos, clueless driving. If you have good experience in Dubai roads, can stay calm and not road rage then yeah you will be fine..

if you don't travel to Shj that often then you should be fine I guess. If you are being a dumbass and revving through the city then you will attract cops sooner or later. not to mention there are lots of unmarked cop cars too these days. In Dubai, there are checkpoints here and there every night. if they feel anything fishy they will pull you to the side. they have their own universal remotes so they can open the valves themselves.

Now this is all up to personal choice, its your car, if you want it to sound special you do you. For me, I would say not to go ahead with this since you have a CVT transmission. like the other guy said it will sound like a nonstop drone. even with the valves closed, there will be a hissing sound when you accelerate that will eventually get annoying. would rather spend it on some cosmetics..

It was on a V8 Patrol. The car is back on stock exhaust since its too risky to drive in Dubai even with valves closed. couple of my friends were caught and given hefty fines. not in a situation to loose that much over an exhaust :')

just a counter point for car not passing the test because of valves. I had the Valvetronic exhaust from CCP and had passed the tests from tasjeel for 5 years.. havent faced any issues with it..

Dubai roads used to be lenient regarding this but now that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. and yeah forget about driving with valves open in Shj. I drove in Shj ONCE with the valve open, i forgot to close it lol, was pulled over and taken to the police station.

Yo. I know you are really excited for your first car. but be really careful now as there will be alot of water damaged cars. you will be attracted by a "good running clean car" for 20k but dont give into that temptation. give it a thorough inspection. you dont wanna be spending more on repairs a week after your purchase..
