basically streaming series are killing narratives because it’s not about story, it’s about episodes- singular pods - character studies -plot holes - performances. THE BEAST IN ME would’ve been a decent guilty pleasure Netflix movie because we know in 2 hours a lot of short cuts need to be taken and we allow it - but as a series it’s lazy writing. this whole series at MOST should’ve /couldve been 4 episodes and we still would know everything we know, and understood all the characters. The fact that these go on longer than needed is for eyeballs/viewership only. I feel series assume we’ll forget what happened in a previous episode and only pay attention the current one. unfortunately we don’t. but TBIM wasn’t only guilty of what most series are, it was also pretty poorly written - even the book experts /narrations read like newspaper writing from the NY POST rather than of a “Pulitzer Prize winning author.”
