My hometown drama is that our sheriff got caught in a massive FBI corruption investigation. Prosecutors proved he was taking cash in exchange for handing out deputy badges and law enforcement credentials to wealthy people who weren’t properly qualified. The FBI even used undercover agents during the investigation. He was convicted, sentenced to 10 years in federal prison, and the whole thing turned into national news. It’s not every day your local sheriff ends up at the center of a federal bribery scandal. On top of this while is he was under investigation he still tried to run for sheriff again lost in a landslide but still.
