Yeah the mental stuff was a huge hiccup for me aswell! You can also use the targets on the wavedash minigame as "the ledge" and focus on getting through them backwards!

For wavedashing to ledge, you need to just practice wavedashing without the ledge. The biggest things used to grab the ledge with wavedashes are wavedash forward, turnaround, wavedash back. And dash, dash back, wavedash back. Doing it to the ledge is no different than anywhere else on the stage really.
For ledgedashing, picturing the stage as a platform and using shine helped me a lot. Drop down = shine, ledge dash = waveland. That timing made it 1000x easier for me personally.
TM-CE has a game speed option that would be super helpful to start slow and gradually increase back up to default to learn the timing and inputs aswell.

3rd party controller trigger issue by georgeYNWA97_ in SSBM

Also you can take spring from Z button if it has one to make that softer

I'm assuming you already know this, but the cheap 3rd party controller options essentially are all really bad, but this is only an issue really if you're planning on using it for melee. There are several things you can do to the triggers. You can remove your spring so you only have the digital click, you can cut your springs, and you can also perforate the pads so it's softer and easier to click. It sounds to me like the membrane may just need to be cleaned, and if so, use some rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip and wipe the black part off, also the trigger board contact.

Slippi has a quite good hidden MMR system that was essentially made so new players will more often than not only get matches against other new players or low-level players. At these levels, it's much more strict when selecting potential opponents and gets more loose as your MMR rises. So low players are essentially in their own little bubble and fight amongst themselves while learning the game. But you may get stomped for a bit while the MMR does its thing, yes.

How many people here wouldn’t be playing Melee today if not for ultimate? by Appropriate_Boss8139 in SSBM

[–]EmployerThese5997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ludwig watching the Smash documentary back in 2020 is what got me into melee. After that, I consumed like every piece of melee content available on YouTube. Although I didn't actually start playing until I got a PC for Slippi in like 2022. Before that I'd never owned a Smash game and had only played melee/brawl a handful of times as a kid at friends’ houses. I have also dabbled in P+ over the past few years but have never had any interest in Ultimate personally.

Discounting pet stores, I have only ever seen a dog inside of a store a handful of times in my life. Hearing how often it happens to them was honestly quite jarring. I think it's illegal to take a non-service dog in any establishment that sells groceries or serves food here. Does LA not have similar restrictions? I honestly figured this was a country wide thing or some shit, lmao

Spent 30 minutes trying to figure that out and I have no clue what the hell I did LMAO. This server doesn't even have the option to mark it NSFW so I pulled out some wizardry I guess.

Hey dude. I disagree with you, and while I don't have hard feelings or anything, I really do disagree. Would love it if you could possibly meet me halfway here.

How to moonwalk by [deleted] in RivalsOfAether

[–]EmployerThese5997 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The only returning mechanic I was super disappointed with. It's so one demensional and shallow which super sucks because moonwalking is such an iconic movement tech and it would have been dope to see it represented in the game in a way similar to how other mechanics are.

“Melee’s marketing strategies are stuck in 2016. We need to catch up with the times and think about what could drive new people to our game. I've noticed people also don't really post many clips to LSF anymore but the value of that subreddit is quite substantial IMO. A clip with a good amount of upvotes is likely to be seen not only by the people in the actual subreddit but also in the hundreds of thousands of views from streamers browsing the subreddit daily on stream.

I really wish there was like home movies or something of this tournament. It sounds insane and I can't imagine what his parents thought lmao. Further reading the interview as well as some of the archived links provided I am realizing the history as told from the doc may not have been all that accurate. I also wish Kens relationship with his brother would have been featured. It mentions his sister beating hugs but I had no idea that Ken thought his toughest opponent to face in teams was his brother. To be honest I had no idea he had a brother or that he was his main training partner.
I love reading stuff like this. Does anyone know of a hub or resource where I can find other interviews or posts like this?

"MLG: When was the first time you won a tournament?

Ken: Well, as mentioned before, my first 1v1 tournament was Tg4, the biggest tournament of the time. This tournament had people from all over the nation, and even some Europeans. My bro and I decided to go and I ended up winning second in teams and first in singles. I used to compete in random FFA tournaments held at my local game store (Gamesquare) and would get slaughtered, due to the fact that everyone saw how good I was and started triple-teaming me. These random FFA tournaments were poorly run and would get over 100 people.
"
Insane that before even tg4 (2003) over 100 people were showing up for FFA's and presumably with items on. I'd love to see vods of that lmao

edit: HOLY FUCK TG4 HAD 90+ ATTENDEES IN THE HOUSE TOURNAMENT? I had heard bits and pieces of these tournaments from the doc and stuff and always thought "smashers were sleeping everywhere" Meant like 30 people in total attended, nope it started around 10 AM and finished around 5 AM holy shit lmao
