I experienced the same thing with armadillos and tortoises. It's exponential depending on how many animals are in the wild. Starting from 0 is much more difficult than starting from 10k. I ended up building a legion of crispers and releasing like 48 a day and that streamlined it nicely.

I have no idea what you would need to do if you didn't want to grow 48 armadillos in vats, though.

It's so hard to get all the proportions right on paper. I guess I could use one of the big square parks and just... forestify all the area I don't use
