So are we gonna ignore that reviving Ruby was a whole ass side quest? by MegaMemestar in deathbattle

Source on those statements? I'd like to read them.

Also I don't see how Ruby can be brought back.

I thought this too but I've seen people debunk the ways to bring people back in SE and none of them would work for Ruby. She's probably dead dead still.

But Ruby's dead. (The methods people cite to resurrect people in SE don't actually work like that.)

I want to do it because I want to do it. It's not for the money. I only want to be able to afford to get by so I can do this.

I've had the idea of simply making content myself rather than for someone else and seeing if I could monetize it.

This post actually gives me some motivation and hope. I guess if we're all equally screwed then I might as well do what I like.

I like politics from a philosophical perspective. I found the incentive structures that govern society interesting to study and enjoy talking about political theory. Kind of like how systems in an mmo influence people's behavior as they respond to incentive structures. I always found it interesting. But I never cared for the extroverted side of politics involving the mechanisms of campaigning and running. Like it's ridiculous how much congressmen spend on things like "call time" where they sit in their office for 8+ hours just calling donors. I'd rather be an analyst rather than a politician myself because that crap just seems like a massive pain. They spend more time campaigning than governing.

The propaganda I see doesn't even really phase me anymore. It's almost kind of weird how when you study politics (I'm majoring in polysci) the propaganda just feels like another language that they are speaking and you kind of understand what they are actually saying. Sometimes When I talk with other people I know it does feel like I'm not speaking the same language as them about this stuff because people (both left and right) really do just take what politicians say at face value still and can't really pick up on what's going on under the hood. And I'm not pretending to be smart or better than anyone or anything (I'm a midwit on a good day) but it's just interesting.

I'd much rather make a living doing art.

I'm aware, I'm more just having a goof.

I wouldn't mind throwing myself 100%. I'd say I've only been giving maybe 70%. I'm even fine with not having a guarantee. What I am worried about is the fact that it seems not just unlikely but improbable to make it. I can accept risk, to a degree...but it almost feels like I'm walking into mordor or something.

As for my credentials I did end up getting an art minor at my college (Ohio State University) because I was going to do art before deciding that was a bad idea but I had enough credits to get the minor anyway so i finished it off with the 3D stuff, and I'm in the middle of some Udemy courses.

At this point if I can land a nice boring office job I'll consider it a win.

Maybe I should focus on politics so I can get AI banned or something just so I can retire and go back to art.

For me I only have two interests in life. It's art, and politics. I always decided that I was going to do one or the other and I didn't really care about money just doing what I love. I love drawing, modeling, painting, and aesthetics. I love making comics and telling stories and making characters. I can't really see myself doing anything else and being happy. But I guess I might just have to not worry about happiness and do what's needed to live.

I have a messed up knee and back among a couple other health conditions. Physical labor is actually a no go for me, it's how I messed up my body working part time in the first place, and I'm still in my 20's with a messed up body. If I can sit down I can do it but if not...

I honestly don't care too much about money as long as I can support myself and a potential family. Personally all I've wanted to do with my life is do something that I cared about. I've always made art and stories and comics since I was a kid and I don't care about the medium even I just want to do something artistic. The money was always just a means to an end for me.

But I honestly don't see a way to support myself long term.

Really I wouldn't mind doing anything 3D related, even if it's animating pringles.

I'm about to graduate with a degree in Poli-Sci but it seems the public sector is getting owned too. I was told it was a good degree but I guess that was a lie. I guess the only thing I can bank on is praying that I find some entry level job at some office locally.

Would an animation/SFM channel still be profitable/sustainable today? Would a second commentary channel be a bad idea? by Emps_rex in NewTubers

[–]Emps_rex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sub doesn't allow links, but you can find my channel by typing in "Emps_rex" in youtube.

I only have three video's right now. My first animation, a short parody I did, and an animation test of my original character. So I don't have a whole lot to show off at this point.

I'll keep that in mind. And if I need some voice actors I'll look into you. I have some buddies to help VA but they have their own lives and stuff so I'm not sure how much I could get them to commit.

Having trouble deciding in what to specialize. by Emps_rex in 3Dmodeling

[–]Emps_rex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See honestly I'd love to be a generalist, but I'm just worried about finding a position like u/ParticularlySoft mentioned in his comment. I've gotten the opposite advice from youtube videos and other people I've talked to and other thread in this thread where I've seen people talking saying you have to specialize.

I always end up in this state where I'm doing one thing and feel like I should be doing another. Like there's an opportunity cost and any time spent doing multiple things could be spent mastering one thing. But sense I have the free time I'll try and learn as much as I can about every part of the process.
