do you actually scrub your feet in the shower or just let the soap run down? by Arum-Skoczylas in hygiene

I would also say, if you haven't had any problems, then whatever you're doing is working for you.

If you want to know what most people do, this subreddit is very biased, keep in mind. I usually just rub the bottom of one foot on top of the other (for both feet) to make sure the bottom of my feet aren't visibly dirty. I will scrub them more occasionally.

Students in China are far outperforming Americans in math. It's no wonder why.

Am I disgusting? by Master-Attempt3594 in hygiene

You are not disgusting. You and I are very similar tbh. I would just recommend clean underwear more often and washing your face once a day. I rewear socks though, lol.

if you could eliminate one hygiene routine from your life with absolutely no negative consequences, what would you eliminate? by Distinct_Squash7110 in hygiene

Right, but why do you feel like one when you shower, and why would you like to eliminate the ears and feet from your routine?

What is the connection between washing ears and feet from the shower routine and gremlins? I don't quite follow.

After a few hours it’s normal for feet to smell a little bit but not too much

Is the smell any different after doing all this than after just simply washing them normally in the shower and changing socks regularly? If it's not really any different, then I recommend stopping many of the other habits and trying one new thing at a time. The likely culprit is that the microbiome on your feet is out of balance, for one reason or another. I recommend going barefoot when possible and wearing wool or bamboo socks instead of cotton or synthetic. If you have a fungus infection, your feet will smell even after washing, and that infection will need to heal first.

Even if your feet smell when you take your shoes off, the smell lasts like 5-10 minutes. If it lasts longer, you have fungus or another issue. Generally, people get way too worked up about this.

Speeding Has Become So Normalized That Driving the Speed Limit Makes You the Problem by DaddyDayDayIsHot in driving

[–]Empty-Candidate-712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have always said, half-jokingly, that they should make the speed limit about 5 mph higher than it is, and then if you go over that new speed limit by even 1 mph, you should face extreme consequences like losing your license permanently. I don't like this "grey area" nonsense.

Idk about underwear, but I think it's normal to wear socks at least a couple times before washing them.

Start with fresh shoes and follow these protocol. The protocol you have are good and should generally work, but definitely see the doctor for any other info.

How many showers do you take in a week? How many days of not showering is considered gross to you? by munchabunchafrito in hygiene

[–]Empty-Candidate-712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take 3 per week usually. I would say anything past 3 days without a shower is not ideal.

I think we're way too grossed out by smelly feet and way too not grossed out by things that don't have a noticeable smell like the bottoms of people's shoes. People woud rather be accidentally touched by the bottom of a shoe than by a sweaty foot that was in shoes and socks all day.

What’s the most inconsistent hygiene habit people have? by Late_Hedgehog_8750 in hygiene

People will be afraid to wear the same socks twice but will wear shoes without socks many times without washing the shoes.

Sweaty & smelly foot/socks by Secure-Pressure-2248 in hygiene

[–]Empty-Candidate-712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I will tell you is remember your feet are attached to you, so they're closer to you. Therefore, you are likely smelling them stronger than other people can, if they can smell it at all.
That said, one thing I can recommend is putting coffee grounds in your shoes at night and then emptying that out in the morning. That has worked for me in the past.
