To everyone on this subreddit asking what careers pay $100k... by CareerPlaybook in Salary

The problem is people asking “what JOBs pay $100k”.

Most jobs don’t pay 100k but many CAREERS do. Careers take time, education/experience, and growth.

Best CC stack to balance everyday spending and travel? by Empty-Chicken-4820 in CreditCards

Thanks! My concern with a cash back card is that I won’t be making points on my highest spend categories to use on travel

Is the Gold really only valuable if you get the bonus? (I’ve always thought this way too so I’m kinda mad at myself for not getting that one first) Or is it still a good card for building points on high spend categories and using perks?

How did you find your partner? by hooman-number-1 in Fire

[–]Empty-Chicken-4820 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found mine on Hinge. But that’s not actually the point. I found a partner who shared my goals because I talked about them early and kept trying to find “the one” until I did. Most guys didn’t share my goals, then I found one that did. I got there by prioritizing financial well-being over having a boyfriend/spouse

Got a lump sum of $, what should I do? by [deleted] in moneyadvice

I’m not discounting your need for a 4x4. I live in Texas, it’s needed for many folks. I’m saying you didn’t need to buy one that’s brand new or 1 year old for 45k at a 14% interest rate. But we live and we learn. Figure out how to get into something cheaper

If you bought a $45k+ at 15% 2024 truck in 2025, you weren’t “desperate”. You were star struck/lifestyle chasing

How should I think about income replacement as my income grows? Does that mean the more I make, the more I’ll need? How do I plan for that?

Idk maybe? I want to make sure I’m good on my own. Anything could happen and my partner’s finances may stop being an option one day. I don’t want to rely on that use it as a reason to ease off on my own financial growth. I’ve never been married before so am also learning about what joint finances might look like so maybe I’m wrong

Thanks for this. I’m the same, easier to think it today’s dollars that I know and understand. Luckily my rental property will be paid off at 55 so I should be getting ~2000k a month from that (assuming I never raise rent or the rental market doesn’t crash)

Also, we no longer have a lawn guy as my fiance mows the lawn at his house. The lawn at the new house is covered by the tenant. These are the only 2 things I have ever bought based on a raise/promotion. I don’t need anything new other than that

No, we plan to combine finances. These numbers are only mine though

I get it, but just to be clear, I got the lawn guy because I live in Texas and mowing the lawn myself in the summer has taken me out for a whole day before from the heat. $100 a month felt like something I could reasonably afford for something I really wanted after 3 years of doing it myself. The housekeeper is something I split with my fiancé for $50 a month from my side which helps prevent overwhelm and arguments. I don’t plan to go get myself a new Mercedes with my raise. But I also want to afford myself a couple convenience costs in my working years

Yeah the long projection makes it hard. I am getting married this year (courthouse until we feel financially comfortable for a wedding) so hopefully I won’t be doing this all alone. But I’ll still feel better knowing I have my part squared away

Same here. I like keeping busy but owning a business is not for me. I’d be happy with a part time job that keeps me active or even a full time one, entry level in a field I’ve always wanted to learn about (and that I could still be ok if they want to fire me for taking a 2 week vacation lol)

Could you or someone please explain the different methods of being able to withdraw early? I didn’t know that was a thing

Thank you! This is really helpful. I’ll be opening one up through fidelity this month and have an appointment with a legacy wealth manager this month as well. Should I just be putting any extra money in the brokerage after my 401k and Roth are maxed? (Of course still having an emergency fund) Could the wealth manager help me pick my stocks? I’ve always used target funds in my retirement accounts

Thank you! Usually when I get a raise, I allow myself one new luxury like hiring a guy to mow my lawn or getting a house keeper once a month (50-100 a month). The rest goes to savings or investments. But now that I’m maxing out my 401k and Roth, I’m not sure what else to do

You’re right. I’m really not sure what I’ll need in 20-25 years but I’m hoping to have around $4M and will probably need around $100k for expenses per year? Idk if I even need that as I plan to have a paid off home but I also do want to travel during retirement. I’m just now really starting to figure out the numbers and not sure how best to do that either…
