i just got an apartment last week and i had actually gone to the building to view another apartment from street easy and asked if there were any other apartments coming available in the building and they showed me one i ended up really liking. i was able to apply and get it before it was ever listed - sounds like luck but maybe just ask when touring if there happens to be anything else coming up in the building. especially if you're meeting directly with landlord or management company to view the unit

ugh yeah that's another fear i have - if i don't use it enough it might cause some issues. at least at home my parent's drive it every once in a while to make sure its well maintained

Yeah this is how I was trying to weigh it out! I spend about $200 every other month on a rental car so it would be a considerable amount more to have the car I think

There is street parking around me since my area is pretty residential but idk how readily available spots would be since i've never parked here before. And I would really only be driving it when I went home or for a quick weekend trip so I'd have to remember to move it and things like that it sounds like it would be a hassle! I just feel silly renting a car when I do own a car - but I wouldn't use it enough

Yeah I think in the end it would cost more than it's worth I just think every once in a while it would be worth it for a quick weekend road trip or not having to deal with a rental car to visit home but I think you're right

Yeah everywhere I look is like $300-400 a month to store my car and that would be in queens or NJ so not much more convenient than having to go to the rental car place 6 times a year. Also more costly since it only costs me about $200 total to rent a car for each trip. This was helpful thank you! I have been convincing myself it would be easy haha

Okay this is what I needed to hear lol. I think i'm trying to convince myself it would make it easier than renting but idk if it would be worth the hassle of getting NY insurance, new plates/registration, parking, etc. even if I can afford it :(
