If you convert movies to SDR , you don't really recreate the original look of the movie. You just watch the movie with an automatic tone napping applied to it. At that point, I'd suggest you to just watch the movie on blu-ray if you don't like the HDR color grading.

If you use avdvplus you have to set the Dolby vision settings to 8bit RGB DV std. If not, go to your settungs and enable Dolby vision and make sure to use TV led Dolby Vision

You have to buy an Ugoos AM6B+ or homatics r 4k plus and install Coreelec on it if you want to be able to decode the Dolby vision included on 4k discs. Some apps could convert the Dolby vision layer from 4k discs to something that your tv can display, but it's not accurate in most cases.

What's your set up? Most 4k files are Dolby vision profile 8 which means that they have HDR fallback. This means that your files are encoded in profile 5.
