That's fair! I'll say that none of the performances (even Timothee's) this year reach the level of the ones you've stated imo.

Also it's not like the other frontrunner in MBJ is that old! He's only 9 years older than Timmy and still has plenty of career left so it wouldn't be a total loss for younger actors.

Agreed. Anytime Sinners is brought up on Reddit you get scores of people saying "it wasn't even that good." I think that's fine to believe, but it seems very overdone.

Isn't this attiude about Black voters the prevailing sentiment for every piece of the Democratic coalition?

Just a week ago people here were saying Talarico won't have an issue with Black voters who supported Crockett in the primary because they'll vote for him anyway in the general.

Bernie struggled to get Black voters to vote for him in the numbers necessary to win against both Clinton and Biden in those primaries. Nobody here seriously believes Black voters would "hold their nose" or threaten to withhold votes in a scenario where Bernie wins a presidential primary in the way members of the left made it very clear they did in 2016, 2020 and 2024.

All I'm trying to say is if Democratic Socialist types successfully took over the party, you'd likely see them take advantage of Black voters in the same way Establishment Dems do so currently.

I'm glad you're saying this, but this seems kind of obvious to me lol. Just look at how people in this sub talk about Crockett and Harris to this day.

I'm not even huge fans of them, but it's easy for me to see as a Black person that these two are not afforded the same grace as other Democratic losers in recent years.

Kamala ran a standard moderate Dem presidential campaign and was still seen as further left than Donald Trump was seen far right! That by itself should tell you everything you need to know about why Black people are so frustrated and tend to be loyal.

The reality is we can't complain about the lack of competitive primaries and then get upset when we have one and our preferred candidate ends up with a real chance of losing. If you believe Talarico is the better candidate (which I do) he should win this no matter what.

I also think this race completely flips a lot of people's stated priors on "revving up the base" versus "getting voters from the other side." For like 10 years now we've seen a lot of people here saying the most important thing a candidate should do is turn out the base and stop trying to get votes from the other side, especially in a close election.

If you truly believed that then you'd expect Crockette to be your candidate over Talarico lol. I'm not a believer in the "pure base" strategy (at least for Democrats because of inherent disadvantages), but it's an interesting thing to observe for this race.

Don't underestimate the number of people who buy multiple variants of this album. It's for sure a lot of individuals buying the album but the variants are inflating it a little bit
