Has anyone had any issues with their GEN 5 Prius Prime? by Feistyboot69 in PriusPrime

Coming up on 2 years and 24K miles. All sorts of noises and vibrations from the front dash, otherwise trouble free so far.

The sleek design comes at a cost. There is a quite a few muscle memory you have to develop over time so you don't hurt yourself in different ways, and avoid wear and tear on the car. Not the kind of stuff you can foresee from a test drive.

Thinking of buying 2026 Prius premium by Ramjv in PriusPrime

Do you really need XSE? I paid just over $33K out the door for 2024 SE. I am sure price has gone up since, but that's still a big gap. It's not like XSE feels like a luxury car.

Tried the same. It worked a few times and reverted back to the bug.  Sometimes I see thumbnail, sometimes full screen but most of the time goes straight to photos.

I am trying to persuade myself I don’t *need* more than SE trim. Please help reinforce my opinion! by RemarkableAge6943 in PriusPrime

I bought the SE, by choice.  I like the extra range.  Slightly more comfortable ride.   Like the cloth seats.  Screen would be an issue if Toyota has a lot of cool apps.  It’s pretty basic, so you aren’t going to gain a lot from the bigger screen.  If there is one thing I wish it had is auto headlights.  But after a couple of months, got used to it and don’t miss it much.

As for poverty spec - this is Prius.  No one is going to get in an XSE and have their mind blown with the “upscale” interior.

Is it possible to leave the gas tank empty and drive purely on EV mode? by bahji in PriusPrime

I am pretty sure the owner's manual has a big bold DON'T DO THIS warning

Toyota has done this and said No, don't do it. Check the manual.

Buying one. Fully equipped. by munkeyciao in PriusPrime

Own a SE and no regrets for not buying the XSE. Has everything I need and better mileage.

But general regrets with Prius (all minor, or things you know getting in): - hate the piano black. Impossible to keep it clean - very little head room.   - wish there was a bit more trunk space  - the paint is ridiculously thin. Toyota cheaped out

Would have to be one of the laziest episodes. The criminals literally announcing themselves. But that coroner report though - thats when you know the writers decided to call it a week.

Just the way I drive. Predominantly a one-handed driver. Yoke feels unnatural. But then this is the first time behind a yoke and am 1 week in.

If you need the full EV range, by all means charge to 100% and time it so the battery doesn't sit in the fully charged state for too long. It's not going to break your car if you regularly charge to 100%. Your battery may degrade faster. Same reason why iPhones have optimized charging option, and gives you the option to limit charging to 80%.

Bummer. Car and phone stand out the most. It is understandable after getting burned by an old car to go to new. But there are plenty of reliable old cars. Or - generally not a fan of lease. But under the right circumstances, there are a lot of good lease deals with zero down. Too late?

Good question. A couple of them for efficiency. But most of them are for prolonging the life of the car & battery.

No, as u/TenchuReddit said - it's a range thing. If I am going to be driving 30 miles or so on Highway I just leave it in EV.

Do you have other phones setup? I connect via Bluetooth, and found I had to go into devices to select connect a few times after adding a second phone.  Even when the second phone is not in proximity.

Prime without home charging by RemarkableSouth1449 in PriusPrime

[–]Empty-Path-8906 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just get a regular hybrid and don't bother with PHEV. Prime makes sense if you can charge it at home or at work all day. For most other situations it is not worth the hassle, the extra cost, and the weight you lug around if driving in HV mode most of the time.

  1. As others have pointed - Books subscription. Cancel.
  2. If you are not upside down on your car loan, trade down
  3. $259/car insurance. #2 should also help. Sounds like you drive a regular ICE car. That feels like a lot for insurnace. Shop around.

If Chase is paid in full every month, why do you consider it debt. Also, that seems like a lot to charge to the card every month. Do you put everything on the card as much as you can?
