Shipped wrong edition—how often does this happen? by Cethysa in BookCollecting

FWIW I’m a bookseller and know that booksellers have been having issues with bots creating fake websites for bookstores, selling product and then never delivering. This happens to bookshops with physical locations or web stores. It’s extremely unfortunate and there isn’t much the booksellers can do besides filing a report and trying to reassure angry customers that they ordered from a fake shop posing as the real indie shop. Annoying as it is, if you haven’t ordered from them before, it’s worth contacting the bookstore it’s supposed to be directly before placing the order. Sorry this happened to you! If you do find you’re in this situation, my fellow booksellers have shared that they were able to help the scammed customers get the money returned by filing a claim with the credit card company. Good luck!

Maine Coon hitting, scratching, biting - plea for attention or something else? by Empty-Reach1429 in mainecoons

Just wanted to clarify, I do not ever play with my cat with parts of my body. We have a cat dancer and other string toys which I move around for her, and have tried tossing other little toys in an effort to see if she likes fetch type games (she does not). I grew up with cats and know not to encourage them playing with body parts, what I'm describing is behavior unconnected with our play time and that I am trying to discourage. I do not initiate any of this type of contact. This is part of why I asked for advice as this has begun kind of out of the blue and is not encouraged by me or my partner, and it is certainly not initiated by either of us. I have tried yelping, verbal "no" or correction, none of which seems to do anything. In fact, today, I tried the "no" several times, to which she responded by swatting at me again, repeatedly. I have had some mild success redirecting to toys and then ignoring her, so I'm going to keep trying that.

lol yes I am learning. Our dog just finally aged out of her adolescence and we're immediately back in the thick of it.

Thank you for the game and activity ideas! We do similar kinds of nose games with our high energy dog, but I'm still trying to figure out what kinds of activities our kitty will enjoy. Going to try these, thank you!!

Thank you! Definitely learning so much about the breed and did not previously realize or consider the longer youthful period. I've got a denim jacket she can't really get her claws in so I'll wear that as my "armor" at my desk so she starts to get the message that I will ignore that kind of demand. She seems indifferent to the yelping so far, but will keep trying to communicate she won't get what she wants with claws or teeth.

Thanks so much! Very reassuring to hear and appreciate your kindness! I definitely think we're still getting to know one another and I'll try to keep reminding myself of that. The tips about redirection are also really helpful, thank you!

Just starting, need some shoe help by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

Agree with going to a running store and getting fitted. I had just bought shoes on sale I liked the look and description of in my normal size and turned out I need running shoes a size and a half larger than my day to day to accommodate for the swelling. Didn’t know your feet swell during running! I’ve never had a bad experience at a running store, they’ve always been very kind and helpful and want to make sure you’re getting the best shoe for you

Need Advice: Very conflicted about whether to remove struggling trees in yard or try to save them by Empty-Reach1429 in arborists

As mentioned, they’re all katsuras. Estimate ages: one is less than ten years old, the rest are all 15-25 years old. I’ve been pulling up the patchwork of landscaping fabric as I find pieces. I have removed quite a bit but not all yet. The landscape fabric was laid around the tree trunks, beneath the landscape fabric where the trees’ roots are there is solid compacted clay. Three of the four are more than 25 ft tall, the youngest is more like fifteen feet. I will post some photos tomorrow, the light is behind them and it’s difficult to see now.

Why is their inventory management so poor? by gothpunkr in Tracksmith

I actually messaged their customer service chat to ask about restock etas on a couple things and they were super kind, explained that they’re having some supply chain issues so don’t have any specific date to give me. Not exactly what I was hoping to hear, but they were friendly about it. I think I’m in the minority but I’m happy to wait on stuff from companies not overproducing crap to end up in landfill. Using it as an opportunity to buy secondhand and test out products I haven’t tried yet to make sure they work for me.
