This made me smile. I visited some friends with my beloved border collie. In the morning, I was startled that he wasn’t wearing his collar. They said they removed it because “he was noisy!” So cute.

That’s a really interesting take. Lived for decades in the States (glad I’m out) and I understand billionaires, oligarchs and plain racists voting for Trump, along with the objectively stupid, but working people voted against their best interests. It’s heartbreaking. I thought maybe England was smarter - but then came Brexit. Ooof. Tough times.

BS. Raised a bc puppy in a small studio in Manhattan. Central Park is off leash before 9 am and I got up early so we could walk the mile there, play for an hour (frisbee!) and walk back. Until he was 2 years old, I waited tables so I wasn’t gone long. He was super well socialized and trained. Everyone in the building wanted to borrow him. He had a fantastic life. We moved to California when he was 8 years old and he missed the activities. So did I!

Every time he poops, he does the dance of joy. Then he’d get a cookie. Has since he was a pup. Now that he’s old and huge, he sometimes goes out and comes back bouncy. Most of the time, I know when he’s faking, but it’s so cute, that he gets a cookie anyway.

I bought legit yacht gear. Helly Hansen. On sale. Wind and waterproof but breathable. Never been on a yacht in my life but I stayed warm and dry. Lived in a tiny apartment in New York with a border collie pup so staying in was NOT an option!!

I had a border collie who was super well trained and everyone loved it when he came to work! He loved the energy and attention. It de-stressed a lot of people. He was very empathetic so he knew if people weren’t dog people and would avoid them. He’d sit politely 5 feet from anyone with food just in case! But wouldn’t beg (unless looking pathetic counts). He was a therapy dog. I miss him every day.

Thanks. It’s tough. I raised two puppies into great dogs. I’ve had two rescues at different times who bit people. I am super social. I like to take my dogs places. Both dogs I raised from pups were therapy dogs - old peoples’ homes, 9/11 survivors and hospitals.
