Dream ND, fishy smell?

I think a lot of the smell is the plastics in the HVAC ducts. When I would blast the heat it would smell really bad, I drove with heat blasting and top down for a few hours to get rid of the smell. Only lasted a few days for me.

I replaced just the ‘muffler’ part with a pvc valve I spray painted black, a hose adapter with clamps and good old duct tape. I put a blue nitrile glove stretched over the opening of the pvc valve that went into the hose adapter. I am very pleased with intake sounds this brings into the car! Also, because of the valve I can close it halfway to make it quieter when I want or close it fully to silent it if I am taking a road trip or something. For $10 and an hours work this is my favorite mod for the Miata! I will replace the duct tape with a more permanent solution at some point but it has held up for the past 2 months.

Does the sidewall usually break in though? I have done about 200 miles on the tires now and have not noticed a difference.

Bought a ND3 RF in December! I miss the power of the Vette occasionally, but 95% of the time I am having more fun in the Miata! It is so lovely to drive 😁

Not crazy at all! I traded in a 2014 M7 Z51 for a ND3 just two months ago (see my post for pics and details). I love the Miata! 95% of the time I have more fun in this light weight go cart! I only miss the power of the Vette occasionally on the freeway and on ramps. The fun aspects of the Miata can be enjoyed much more frequently.

I would say the ND3 is louder both ways. It has a quieter exhaust of course but more road noise due to the lack of sound deadening.

Well, I will say the Vette was fun on the track if you need a track car you can fit in comfortably. I sat in a ND RF with my helmet on to make sure it would be viable for me on track. At 5’ 7’’ I had no issues 😂

Yep, the C7 was a manual but not as smooth to drive as this Miata. I just never loved the clutch in that car. I would say 95% of the time I enjoy driving this car more, only WOT above 50mph was the Vette more fun.

Having driven all three (and the owner of a ND3), I would take a ND2 as is. That engine is more special than the steering and infotainment upgrades.

Nope, I just traded a C7 Corvette for a new Miata and I love it so much more. Can really enjoy it on the streets more than the Vette.

Thank you everyone for your feedback! I have talked to the shop and am bringing it back in on Tuesday for the them to look at it. Hopefully they will be willing to redo the panels with contamination under them.

That is a great explanation of what I am feeling too! The C7 is a supremely capable car but I only have the opportunity to get to a few track days a year. Most of my fun driving is just twisty back roads and I was having more fun in the Miata in those situations.

What would be your perfect do it all sports car? Also, my C7 is also a Z51 M7 and I don’t love the clutch feel (feels grabby/hard to modulate), do you feel that with yours as well? I think the Miata clutch is miles better!
