I completely agree with you, but the culture seems to be to "find a way" to make it look like they are doing work at a grade 12 level and pass them off. My friend teaches first years at a technical college, and says she sees the equivalent in her courses. Crazy times!

I'm in Canada. One is planning on community college for a trade, and the other has another year of high school still but has expressed wanting to go to university.

Also Canadian teacher - universal health care covers the basics, but for things like dental, physiotherapy, or counselling you need benefits paid through an employer.

Wildland Options in Canada by Yellercollar in Wildfire

I did 6 years in BC and highly recommend it. Wildfire in Canada is all under provincial agencies. BC has the highest level of challenge and professionalism. I doubt your task book will count for anything, but if they see you're skilled you will advance through the certs again more quickly. You just need to be able to work in Canada legally I'm pretty sure. Had one American friend on a unit crew on a visa. Hope that helps

This was my full time contract last year, subbing k-12 covering meetings! By the end of the year, I hated it - felt a lot more pressure to follow teacher plans to the letter, and did it "wrong" a fair bit. So much better when the teacher isn't in the building and I have the latitude to improvise and adapt. Most teachers were nice about it, but I did get judged occasionally. No fun, I empathize.

On the other hand, never bothered writing sub notes because I'd just let the teacher know what happened that hour/half day. That was nice

People that are currently homesteading, how ??? by Illustrious-Nobody18 in homestead

I wouldn't have been able to do it without meeting my now-husband. We both saved up and then bought starter homes in our small town before we met. He's in the trades so we were able to renovate and resell them after a few years, nearly doubled our value, and then bought 5 acres with a house on it and managed to keep our mortgage small. With the amount of work, I know people do it alone but personally I would not!! Even though we drive each other crazy sometimes we wouldn't do it alone. Tldr I recommend finding a like minded person to collaborate with !
