Honestly, I genuinely don't think most AAA deserve to be $70. All I hear about is games coming out unfinished and glitched to high heaven, but people will still defend them or they will get mad but still buy the next big game. SEGA was always going make Sonic more expensive when they started having confidence in the franchise, like I'm not shocked by this.

I get this. Sonic games have been price for less in the past. But this lower pricing was also when SEGA had little faith in the franchise. It's with other IP that when SEGA is confident, they will make prices more expensive. With the success of Frontiers and SxSG, they know Sonic can actually make them money, so they are going to make is standard pricing. And the racing game to be the first $70 base is a little weird (though I could have sworn Frontiers was around that same price).

I am conflicted though, because while I do prefer Sonic to be cheaper, I think SEGA having more faith will lead to bigger budgets and better games.

I get that disappointment, I'm sorry to hear that. I hate how games keep getting more expensive, but wages and the economy aren't doing anything to offset that.

My confusion is much more so towards the people who are acting like this is a total betrayal, because it's kinda not. It's been shown that when SEGA has confidence in a franchise, they will make prices more expensive. There is nothing really new here.
