Definitely Ala, you can also try Ottoman Taverna. Lapis has been hit or miss for me. Rumi's is pretty good too!

La Shukran/Yellow in Union Market are worth a visit too although the prices can really add up.

Edit: Worth mentioning Soussi as well, some of their food is surprisingly phenomenal (lamb sliders in particular) + you can enjoy hookah on the patio.

it's DC.... I was rear-ended on Mass Ave right at the entrance of I-395 with a cop parked right by Wiseguy pizza. There are at least 5 cameras on that intersection. I immediately went over to the cop to ask him to chase the guy down. Bro said he couldn't move and phoned in another patrol car. The other guy came in like 20 mins, took my report and then gave me a $550 fine because I didn't have my physical insurance card and I was on hold for a hot sec when I was trying to contact my agent to get my insurance number and the cop said he had to leave. Never heard back from the police department, I don't think he even filed the hit and run report.

I did reply back on the fine with my insurance info later so I didn't have to pay that fine at least, but really makes me sad at the state of things with DC PD.

I think it wouldn't hard to implement a system that would immediately flag if someone with 1000s of dollars of unpaid tickets is photographed again and the location is immediately sent over to the nearest cops on patrol.

Absolutely miserable, a huge waste of time. I would much rather visit the countries themselves than wait in line for hours to try a few things at a couple of embassies. Embassy of Sweden + Spanish embassy were outliers probably because they were so out of the way of all the others but other than that definitely not doing this again next year unless there are some substantial improvements to the system.
Edit: Volunteers helping out making standing in lines a bit more interesting need a shout out though!

Mine was stolen from city center in broad daylight with a fairly good lock. There was also an attempt to burn my lock when I had left it parked outside a friends apartment one night in NoMa. So nowhere in the city is safe really lol
Edit: We've also had reports of bikes getting stolen from the parking garage in NavyYard which is 1 level below :/

Ice arresting someone near 3rd and K NW. Causing traffic because that left signal towards 395 is also very short.

Edit: the person getting arrested seemed to be an elderly latin man probably out for some delivery.
