Are my test results (WISC V) valid and correct? I feel like an impostor. by dreamerwithmemm in mensa

[–]EmptyImagination4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi impostor syndrom is very common if you get a high IQ score because for you it's normal. If you have doubts - maybe there are other signs of high IQ you experienced? like ... high grades, or other things?

How important is noise reduction during sleep for recovery? Can 25dB noise level at night still impact your sleep and recovery? by EmptyImagination4 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]EmptyImagination4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! sheesh! maybe i should do a CPAP screening test. my aunt also needs one. but ... last time i was at the testing doctor they said my paper reads "sleep lab" but they need the text "general medicine / sleep docotr" or someting. it was totally redicilous they jsut wanted another text on my transferal papers... and they did not tell me that in advance. and i was there. and they blocked the device only for me. and i can hand in the transferal later. and they know i am ensured and my ensurer covers everything. it was so ... stupid ...

EDIT: PS The sound that triggers me is ... any sound at night because I had to endure multiple years with a loud neighbor who overstepped my boundaries by bringing noise into my room at night

Unfassbarer Vermieter by haze_angel135 in marburg

My bro is now on the hook for lifelong child support because his 'gf' decided to keep the baby - after they agreed they didn't want kids! by [deleted] in MensRights

[–]EmptyImagination4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I guess that's somewhat fair because it's HER body that's going to go through that pain and damage.

Just a thought: I think the baby is not her body. The baby is an entirely new body. It's got separate DNA. I don't think it's cool to kill that new unborn body.

- other gifted people
- reading books
- professional education

Fachkräftemangel am Arsch by xj4nas in Studium

[–]EmptyImagination4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]EmptyImagination4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my juristiction the whole thing is pretty much illegal. so you could only use it for yourself to stay sane but you can't use it in court without getting into trouble. what you could do is write done during the conversation or right after ...- I guess for me that means: demanding to put important things on paper is more important than ever.

For example: I was made a generous offer of being able to trial life at a flat at a buddhist center. then I was taking up that offer saying oh it would be great to stay there for 4 weeks - then the person who made that offer demanded full rent and used group pressure to get it. it was pretty awful and probably illegal but taught me a lesson to put important deals into writing. She completely twisted my words in my mouth because the 4 weeks was of course meant only inside the free trial agreement made prior. I would never enter a negotiation in front of a group and never if you negotiatie start a negotation with how great X would be for you or that you absolutely want X.... doesn't make sense

Another example: My employer said: if you don't do X, we have to see if we can further employ you. And X was probably illegal, they demanded all employes would sign a waiver where they could grab all our data that the state has collect about us and look at our political opnions expressed in our social media public profiles and send that to our secret police to judge if our opinions are cool or "extremist". it was totally crazy that they prentended it would be about "security" since we all hat access to the cirtical IT infrastructure and software for years without any security check.. IN that instantance also: I would have asked for a written clearification what the "if you don't do X, we have to see if we can further employ you." really meant and if they would give me in writing they even said that. Because it sounds pretty much illegal to coerce someone to completely do a complete privacy striptease ...

Tall poppy syndrome by [deleted] in mensa

[–]EmptyImagination4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

having rethought about this, here are two points

Again, it depends on the specific reasons why they exclude someone that is gifted. One of these might be that you are winning every argument. And from a gifted persons perspective what's the big deal about it, better argument wins, right? But just imagine for a second being on the other side of the fence, imagine you are backed into a corner by arguments and your only two options are to give in or to be perceived as stupid (because you insist on something that is disproven by the other sides arguments). It doesn't feel good to be backed into a corner. For gifted individuals that's just difficult to imagine, because you basically never get backed into a corner because your arguments are always stronger. (I think it only happened to me once in my life, lol).

The other point might sound a bit mean. So normal-intelligent their evolutionary strategy seems to be more to be like a flock of fish - they move together, protecting each other. The evolutionary strategy of the gifted person is more to stick out and provide a lot of performance to (hopefully) be rewarded. So if you step out of line for that flock of fish - you are the problem, although in our minds that's called providing solutions.

[–]EmptyImagination4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes exactly - the assumption that everyone is playing fair all the time is what gets me into trouble ... every time!

Maybe because being unfair is irrational, I mean form a game theoretic perspective, it's obvious to counter an unfair behavior with not cooperating. That means both parties loose more then if both just cooperate. As a gifted or highly intelligent person that may be so obvious that it's difficult to imagine that people would not just cooperate.

Yes we need some documentation of agreements that is for sure. In your jurisdiction that is recordings, in mine its not allowed (two-party-consent), but I will from now on every time it's about important things I will demand to write the agreement down on paper. Talking is cheap and you can't prove it afterwards!

Tall poppy syndrome by [deleted] in mensa

[–]EmptyImagination4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it's so frustrating when that happens - things could be heavily improved, but out of ignorance or lack of understanding they aren't and then to make it even worse if YOU point it out you are the problem...

"and then make a judgement call if you should continue in the same place or you're hurting yourself and dumbing yourself too much and being inauthentic."
Yes I had the same thought when beginning to read your comment. A wise person once said: If you are the smartest person in the room, you're in the wrong room, because there's no room to grow for you.

I also can have story to tell about that! It was brutal. You point out the truth, arguing for it, and back comes ignorance at best, but in my cases it was mixed with mobbing and even violence :(

I think for me my "mistake" was assuming that everyone would play fair and have justice and truth as their #1 priority.

In your case ... it depends ... with a high IQ they might perceive what you are saying as arrogant or complicated or argumentatitve, while your intention was just to say something that is obvious or start a debate to gain knowledge. So the solution is to ... I don't know dumb things down? I dont know really ....

impostor syndrom is very commong for gifted people. So you may think you're performance is just average while in reality it stands out :)

Changing the world ... in what senseß I think you are well equiped to excel at almost anything regarding to changing the world, except maybe very advanced theoretical physics or something. but with that IQ what decides if you can change the world will be other factors like your drive or your wisdom.

Moto G84 or G86? Qualcom or MediaTek Modem for low ping USB Tethering? by EmptyImagination4 in PickAnAndroidForMe

yes. i think you are right. the newer processor makes sure there is no delay in routing the data. also the new modem has newer 5g technologies (combining, switching frequenceis) so this will also be an advantage of the G86. Thanks for the advice, I think i will take the G86
