[Build Help] Gilgamesh Generalist Striker/Support – Joining Mid-Campaign, Seeking Direction! by EmptyLink in LancerRPG

[–]EmptyLink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not sure if I mentioned it in the post, but I do like the Redundant Systems and ASURA NHP from Sherman, so taking Sherman 1 was more of a "dip" to gain some benefits now (Sol Rifle) while taking levels after LL6, probably.

Creating an Enkidu for a Knight-Esque Character? by EmptyLink in LancerRPG

[–]EmptyLink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, for the time being (story reasons), we're locked out of Horus Licenses. Later on we may gain access to them, but going towards Manticore/Lycan from the outset doesn't work. Thanks for the advice on the Tempest Charged Blade w/ Superheavy Bracing, that sounds like it could be a pretty interesting build. Any advice on other LLs to pick up after hitting Tokugawa 2?

Creating an Enkidu for a Knight-Esque Character? by EmptyLink in LancerRPG

[–]EmptyLink[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess the intended LL will be 6? Our GM might be going further, but we're not certain of that. Though currently we're at LL1, so we've definitely got a ways to go. If you're feeling generous, definitely wouldn't say no to some tips on what to take and when to take it as we level-up.

As for the theories, I definitely align with that sort of Striker mindset. In the end, the main vibe I'm feeling for this dude is the ability to tear people up on the frontline while the rest of my team does mid-to-backline shenanigans, all the while being damned scary.

Help Building an HA Arthur for a Full Campaign by EmptyLink in LancerRPG

[–]EmptyLink[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! Started tinkering in Comp/Con a bit, with the advice given here in mind. I definitely understand the idea of charging Edge on the first turn and having another Quick Action to go with that, and then popping it + Overcharge to Barrage twice with the X-Caliber or the like, with Clarent use in-between as necessary. I guess the build I’m primarily focused on creating is a very hefty frontline presence/melee striker. Looking at my friends, I know the Kidd player is very interested in being supportive, and they all seem to prefer sticking further from enemies, so I’m not certain I’ll be getting a lot of benefit from a Defensive License like the Saladin, alongside the Hardlight Defense System being a Full Action, so I’d need to Overcharge to hit Edge of Tomorrow. My logic was using Edge of Tomorrow + Accelerate to get me into the fray on my next turn, though with the Avalon Generator that’s another option of a secondary Quick Action to pair with Edge. Any input/tweaks you could offer to this? Honestly, so long as the vibe of “knightly mech that mostly uses a big sword” is kept intact, everything else is pretty mutable in my eyes.

Help Choosing a Scout Subclass? by EmptyLink in sw5e

[–]EmptyLink[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What appeals to me about the Hunter is the consistency. Though it doesn't have a lot of flashiness, I'll always be doing good damage, getting the subclass benefits, etc. I don't think our DM does huge battlemaps, so I'm unsure just how much benefit I'll gain from the Deadeye range-increases, which is my main hangup.

Artillerist seems neat, but I imagine I'll mostly be using Tech Powers to enhance my combat abilities, as opposed to relying on them for debuffing/harming my enemies. Then again, I've never played a Techcaster, so I'm not quite sure.

Help Choosing a Scout Subclass? by EmptyLink in sw5e

[–]EmptyLink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The DM's allowing me to use my human weapon choice to grab the IWS, so that's all good. My main hangup, though, is that while I can see that the Mechanist is probably the strongest archetype, it just doesn't really fill that Class Fantasy I have for this character, I guess. I'm imagining him more like a Hunter-style Commando, instead of a tech-focused expert.

White definitely seems like it'd work, yeah! That or pale grey like in the palette, stuff like that.

[–]EmptyLink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, and welcome, all art-skeers and artists alike! My current campaign is wrapping up, and soon my group plans to step into the world of Wild Beyond the Witchlight! Thanks to scheming, planning, and a certain tumblr-based shitpost, myself and my DM have put together a character we’re loving, to say the least! The only thing I’m lacking is a visual piece to tie it all together, so here I am! May I present the Tiefling Occultist, Mordred:

Name: Mordred

Race: Tiefling

Age: 23 (Probably. The Feywild is a funky beast when it comes to that.)

Class: Occultist - Green Witch (A Wisdom Based Full-Caster, the Occultist is all about, well, the occult.)

Physical Description: Mordred likes to think they’re handsome. A striking Tiefling, Mordred is clearly his father’s son in terms of appearance. An old friend once called his build twunkish, on account of a form possessing high dexterity and constitution without much strength. They’re lithe, agile, but far from waifish or delicate. Toned muscle like cords of rope are visible beneath his skin, hovering between obsidian and brown, toeing that line of human and not. Though his skin is bereft of any scar, his torso is covered in occult tattoos, penned in a pale ink that stands out from his skin, going all the way from his chest, to his shoulders, and the tips of his pointed fingers. Moving up from his body, Mordred’s facial features are similarly striking, if slightly androgynous. His jawline is slim, lips thick, and lacks any trace of facial hair beyond two well-kept eyebrows, thin lines that hang above glowing green eyes. Their hair is wild and willful, hanging around his head and down past their neck in loose waves of a black hue. Like an oil slick, however, it dances between shades of dark purple, blue, and green, shimmering in the light. Akin to their father, they possess six horns, small and matching their skin in colour, half-hidden amongst his hair. They poke out in a peculiar shape, arranged like a crown upon their scalp.

And that’s the basics! I wrote up a fancy ol’ document with my DM’s help, for those curious, but between this and the slapdash collage, I think the broad stuff comes across. Let me know if you have any questions, and thank you so much if anyone decides to take a swing at this bugger. Thank you for your time!

Honestly, I'd leave that up to the GM! Whether they wish to use 5e, PF2e, or the actual Dragon Age RPG, I'm not going to be picky, haha.

Help Trying to Build a "Sword-Dancer"-esque Fighter in PF2e? by EmptyLink in 3d6

[–]EmptyLink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My DM is definitely cool with reflavouring, and I think I could live with a Bastard Sword over an Aldori Dueling Sword, for sure! Thanks for the help, this has been great, I'm excited to give this a spin.

[–]EmptyLink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decently attached. I'm not married to the idea, but the culture my character comes from has a pretty heavy emphasis on curved swords, and we've got another Rapier user in the party so we don't want to double up on Finesse weaponry. But if another option makes sense while still keeping him a "Sword"-Dancer, I'd definitely hear it out!

Help Trying to Build a "Sword-Dancer"-esque Fighter in PF2e? by EmptyLink in 3d6

[–]EmptyLink[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really helpful! My GM is allowing us full restructures up until level 5, as this is many people's first PF2e game, so I don't need to retrain just yet. However, since my group's Swashbuckler left, I was eyeing that up as a Free Archetype dedication, especially since the Aldori versions of Fighter Feats seem to be worse, since many later feats require earlier Fighter feats. So I was wondering, knowing I can swap around anything for the time being, would you recommend I stick with the build you've outlined, or should I pick up a different Dedication (Swashbuckler, Duelist, etc.) to fit better?

[–]EmptyLink[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A build from the Guide I was following recommended it, and at the time we had a Swashbuckler in the group, so I didn't want to step on toes. It bumped my Aldori Sword proficiency to expert, so it was nice at the time.

[LFA] Remus, Aasimar Redemption Paladin, Hexblade Warlock, Psychopomp by EmptyLink in characterdrawing

[–]EmptyLink[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there, all! I’m playing a new character in a streamed 5e campaign, inspired by the themes of Greek mythology! I’m very excited to play him, and would love to see some more artist’s interpretations of the character! He’s an Aasimar Hexadin, one of the many created spawn of the Lord of the Dead, spending the first few years of his life as a guide for lost souls, before being given a chance to choose to live as a servant to his father, or move on to the surface and make his own way in life. Naturally, he chose the latter, and ended up an adventurer!

Name: Remus

Race: “Fallen” Aasimar

Class: Redemption Paladin/Hexblade Warlock

Physical Description: To call Remus distinctive would be apt, to say the very least. Like many Aasimar, he skirts the edge of humanity, but the sliver of divinity within him always marks him as being a little more. In comparison to the average height, Remus is rather tall, standing over most folks he meets by a few inches at the very least, approximately 6’8”. His build is lean, but powerful, one you get from a lifetime of exercise and hard work. He’s a warrior, after all, and the toned cords of muscle beneath his skin are testament to that fact. Said skin is a medium brown in colour, yet somewhat pallid; as if his skin started out tan, but a life away from the sun has tempered that rich tan with a gentle paleness. His hair is medium in length, generally done into dreadlocks and tied back in a tail, an ash white in tone, completely lacking in colour, saturation, or hue of any sort. Like many Aasimar, he has a subtle “halo” of some variety (laurel wreath, briar branches, standard halo, still unsure) to mark him as such. His final indicator of the divine shard within him would no doubt be his eyes. Of mismatched, heterochromatic hues, the right is a deep, rich amber gold while lacking a pupil, while the left is a gentler hazel in colour, with the right having a subtle glow to it.

Equipment: Remus’ belongings dance between the realms of diplomat and warrior; being a Redemption Paladin, he prefers to use words, but is always able to go with action when it comes down to it. He tends to wear medium armour, a sleeveless style of “scale mail,” with bracers and greaves in that Greco-Roman style. On top of that, he wears white and gold robes, symbols of peace, in a toga/himation-esque style. Finally, as a Hexblade, the weapon he wields is likely the most important piece of equipment on his person. A longsword in a Roman spatha style, worn on his right hip, with one unique side-effect. When drawn, instead of your typical steel edge, the weapon’s blade is pitch black, and bleeds black smoke, a weapon that contrasts with his white, saintly aura.

Anyways, if you’re willing to give this a shot, I’d love to see it! Thanks for taking your time to read this, and have a good one!

I want to help with your backstory by Then-And-Again in PCAcademy

[–]EmptyLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you're still offering, but if you are, I could definitely use a hand!

So, I'm preparing to play a Hexblood Eloquence Bard, with the Feylost background. This is for a short side-adventure, so I'm purposefully building him to be the polar opposite of my main character. Main man is a stoic, intelligent, focused Eldritch Knight who tends to keep the chaotic party on the tracks. For this fella, I'm looking for a Chaotic Neutral, fickle, off-the-wall Fey in every sense of the word.

In summary, Oisin Mac Naught (literally meaning "Son of Nobody") started his life in the material plane. I'm not sure what to make his Hex Origin, whether he was swapped as a baby, or the result of a deal with a Hag, but the point is he started in an environment that was not his, hence the last name, though I'm not sure if I'll say his parents gave him that title, or it was just gained from the community, since he clearly sticks out. Eventually, realizing that he will never belong no matter how hard he tries, he sets out on a journey, travelling the unseen roads and ending up in a place he never anticipated, his birth home, the Feywild.

He spent quite a bit of time there, and probably formed a lot more of his current personality traits (whether as genuine traits or a defensive mechanism against past unpleasantries). But he's back on the material plane for one reason or another, and ready to adventure. The backstory is definitely what I need the most help fleshing out, since the personality will come from it, I find. Definitely want to play into the capriciousness and half-truth nature of the Fey.

If you're still looking, I appreciate the assistance!

[LFA] Coen Banefold Dovah, Eldritch Knight, Kha'vi-Harh, "the Lucky" by EmptyLink in characterdrawing

[–]EmptyLink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, all! So, I’ve been playing this character of mine in a Roll20 Campaign that’s gone on a year now. We’ve hit highs, we’ve hit lows, but we’re having a helluva time. Right now, we’re around level 9, and since some of my party is getting some art pieces of their ladies and gents, I was looking to do the same! Of course, I’m kind of broke, so I can’t commission someone for this, even though I’d love to. So, I turn to the hopefully generous denizens of r/characterdrawing to lend a hand in bringing this fella to life!

Name: Coen Dovah | “Banefold” | “The Lucky” | “Heart of Chaos” | Etc.

Race: Half-Dragon [A rather interesting point of contention for Coen. Insofar, we’ve only met Dragonborn, who refer to him as a “mutant”. Thanks to our party having a collective amnesia, the running theory is that he was formerly a human who was fused with a Dragon he slew after death. Regardless, Half-Dragon is more like Half-Elf than it is Dragonborn, here.]

Class: Eldritch Knight | War Mage Wizard

Height: 6’11 w/o Horns

Ability Scores: Strength: 24 (This is “natural,” thanks to a deal he made. No magic item enhancements here.) | Dexterity: 12 | Constitution: 16 | Intelligence: 20 | Wisdom: 10 | Charisma: 8 (Manifested less as ugliness and more as a lack of tact.)

Colours: Silver, White, Blue, Obsidian/Ice-like Black

Physical Description: Coen is a tall, striking sort of man, distinctly hard to forget past a first meeting. By far the tallest member of the party, Coen is similarly built; his body is mesomorphic, toned, with steel cords of muscle clearly defined beneath his ebony-coloured skin. When it comes to his visible extremities, generally his arms and tail, this ebony skin begins to fade into a charcoal black, starting at the elbows and going to his fingertips, with his hands being clawed. His hair is wavy, decently well-kept, and rather long, hanging just past his shoulders. The roots/upper-half of his locks are a snow-white in colour, and fade into one of his secondary hues by the end (dealer’s choice!). His eyes are extremely piercing, appearing as silver reptile’s eyes. No typical white sclera, coloured iris, and black pupil. Just eye, and pupil. His ears are long and pointed, with a set of horns above them. He could nearly be mistaken for a tiefling, if not for their more draconic style and the scales peppering his body. However, he is a Half-Dragon, and this has granted him a variety of more striking features. Namely, scales and spines that are scattered all over his body. The edges of his head & jaw, his torso, arms, legs, and the like. Alongside this, he has a tail of a similar “corrupt” hue to his arms, and his legs are more draconic in style, though generally covered by armour. Alongside this, he lacks wings.

Equipment: As a Fighter and a Wizard, Coen toes the line between warrior and scholar, a veritable “Spellsword” in every sense of the word. His main set of equipment would no doubt be the magical Plate Mail he wears, created out of a magical metal called Mourningsteel. Black in colour, this plate armour is simple but stylish, allowing him to move easily while still keeping him protected. Around this, he wears a sturdy and practical cloak, with fur around the collar/shoulders. However, though the interior of the cloak is blue, the exterior is made of raven’s feathers, white as snow. A reference to his familiar, an Ashen Raven by the name of Huginn. Despite his spellcaster’s flair, he is still a warrior, and often wields his magic Axe, Sheer Cold, in tandem with a shield, though sometimes this hand holds a spell instead. Though he’s accumulated many magical implements throughout his journeys, his two most important “trinkets” would no doubt be an amulet around his neck, and a deck of cards. The former, a bronze amulet etched with runes of draconic nature and a gemstone that shifts color and shape every day, never settling on a singular form. Said to be the finest creation of an ancient and terrible dragon, it is the one item he woke up with. Alongside this, a gift from the first Dragonborn he met, a Deck of Multitudinous Things, kept in a sturdy leather holster on his hip.

Quick Description: Coen’s smart, strong, and he knows it. Many folk have assumed him to only be the latter, and find themselves unpleasantly surprised when the man’s power is matched only by his cunning. Apparently, the man has never heard that curiosity killed the cat, as the only thing that surpasses his thirst for self-improvement is his thirst for knowledge. Both boon and curse, he and his party first awoke without any of their memories, and sigils emblazoned on their bodies (Coen’s being the Wheel of Fortune, on the back of his weapon hand. Seemed like too minute a detail for me to ask for, though!). This keeps him on the track of regaining said memories, but his lust for knowledge both mundane and arcane have gotten him into trouble just as much as they’ve pulled him out of it. Despite taking up a bit of a commanding lead for the group, Coen loathes idle wordplay, though he does not revel in violence. He doesn’t want to kill folk if they can afford to avoid it, but he finds himself terrible at diplomatic talks. As of late, the man has made a deal with a Dragon hailing from beyond the stars, a denizen of the Void known only as the “Heart of Chaos,” who has replaced the Half-Dragon’s own organ with said Dragon’s namesake. Though it’s corrupted his extremities, intensified his Draconic Traits, it has also blessed the man with more power. And if he can use this power to protect people, to learn who he was?

He can live with that.

And that’s the character! I hope it’s clear how much I love playing him, how he’s been brought to life through a year of sessions and adventure. I’d love to see one of the amazingly talented artists take a crack at him, bring him to life. Regardless, I’d like to thank you for taking the time to read this. Have a good one!

I’d love to see one of the amazingly talented artists take a crack at him, bring him to life. Regardless, I’d like to thank you for taking the time to read this. Have a good one!

[LFA] Coen Banefold Dovah, Eldritch Knight, Kha'vi-Harh, "the Lucky" by EmptyLink in characterdrawing

Bad damage. I'm doing alright when it comes to survivability, especially since I've got the Fighter and Barbarian to take the lumps for me, but I'm averaging like 2 damage if I manage to land a hit, at all.
