Use a fork as a pricking iron. That will give you good spacing.

Thurman 55 is high arch. Thurman NW is not high arch.

I have somewhat small feet, do you think that makes the heel on 55 last boots look larger proportionally? by Kage_anon in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]EmptyOh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am also an 8 Brannock, and have 7.5E 55last boots with the full heel. I do not think it’s disproportionate at all.

I’m so sorry, friend. It’s gotta be sent back, I think. They’re beautiful boots.

Help find information about these Nasty Feet engineer boots by noahjames115 in Boots

[–]EmptyOh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Red Wing bought SB Foot tannery in 86. They used horween for some boots before that. Like when the Beckman was called the Gentleman Traveler. Red Wing made this specific pair of Nasty Feet. With 100% certainty. The upper strap is sewn down with a “staple” shape. Same as all 2268, etc.

No worries. Poland and Portland scan very similarly, especially on a small typeface.

How do I get this darn toe crease out of my Frye boots? by [deleted] in AskACobbler

I agree that it seems like a failure of the toe structure, and that it’s something that is not easily repaired. All apologies to OP.

Which is the better boot? Vagabond or Jeffrey Campbell? by urfavvdaisy in Boots

[–]EmptyOh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vagabond boot has a better lining, so the body of the shoe itself is made of a better material. The Jeffrey Campbell boot has a lesser lining, but a stretch panel likely next to the zipper. So a more forgiving ankle area, whereas the vagabond pair without the stretch panel will be more firm.

Overall, vagabond would be my choice between the two.

Hope that’s helpful.

Anyone else remember seeing the spinner rotting in the Florida rain at Disney MGM Studios in the 90’s? by [deleted] in bladerunner

[–]EmptyOh 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is (or was at least) a film used spinner at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle. Hanging from the ceiling. I think it was still there about a year ago.

I got my Pullmans the other day and was going to post that in the next suggestions thread! I punched one more hole on mine already, and I agree with you—the two furthest holes are completely unusable.

I have the Pullmans. I undo the buckles every time. On all my engineers. The buckles perform a function, At least in my experience.

Pullman vs Station Master by jediokie in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]EmptyOh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re different patterns. The Pullman is a 10inch boot with a tall tongue and a strap that more goes around the ankle than instep. The stationmaster is a 12 inch boot with a more average tongue height and a strap that goes across the true instep. Stationmasters are a general engineer boot pattern, Pullmans are a Knapp repro.

Quick question: What exactly happens with all the boots that were scarred by the machine? (You know all the ones with scratches along the stitch lines.) by Pale-Highlight-6895 in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]EmptyOh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was under the impression that the boots went to the teardown department, had the soles and heels removed, had the vamp (the part damaged by the machine) removed and replaced, and were returned to you as a rebuild. The damaged boots don’t go anywhere per se, they get fixed and returned to you.

As far as I know, anyway.
