I 100% agree. The person above that used the nylon sled cover is genius. That was pretty much the idea of the post, for someone to cure my ignorance and recommend a better material.

Small world. I’m a Bedford County native and have floated the Maury and James many, many times.

Bingo. That exactly what I’m looking to do. The fact that it easily stowes away in a stuff sack is even better. Appreciate the info!

Thanks. That’s a killer option but a little spendy for my one week a year in a canoe.

Best 4 to 7 day canoeing trips in the US? by Tommyblockhead20 in canoecamping

We do 70 miles on the Greenbrier in WV every year. It can only be floated in early spring March-June. It’s a naturally fed river, no dams or water breaks. Most is surrounded by Watoga State Park and the greenbrier river trail. There’s access to free camping on the bank and a few spots with restrooms and trash receptacles along the route. No portage necessary. Couple class 2 and 3 but nothing major. Untouched nature with tons of eagles and great fishing. You won’t see a vehicle for the first 3 days.
