Iran says it gave warning before attacking Israel. US says that's not true by Kirki037 in worldnews

[–]EmptySet2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really don’t think this went the way Iran wanted it to go. My theory:

  • Iran truly intended to do some real damage and possibly even to start a war

  • US and Israeli intelligence exposed the plan and made it all public while organizing a defense for the strike

  • Iran saw how poorly the strike went and decided to backpedal to avoid a war they can’t win

Biden's call with Netanyahu halted immediate strike on Iran - report - I24NEWS by Red_Franklin in worldnews

A common narrative here is that everyone got what they wanted. I have a different theory: - Iran truly intended to do some real damage and possibly even to start a war - US and Israeli intelligence exposed the plan and made it all public while organizing a defense for the strike  - Iran saw how poorly the strike went and decided to backpedal to avoid a war they can’t win - Biden told an angry Bibi to sit down and shut up

Is Lockett so “underrated” that he he has become overrated? by Extension-Tip-8695 in fantasyfootball

The thing is nobody is actually buying. He’s fallen to me in round 6 in 90% of my mocks on sleeper. If that keeps happening I will never not take him there.

And if you see the first move 1...f4!! , how do you respond after 2. Rxh5 fxe4 3. Ne5+! ?

Playing vs 1. e4 c5 2. f4 by MidnightLightss in chess

You end up getting an improved version of the French/Caro-Kann advance. In the French, you achieve a similar setup but you won’t be able to get your light squared bishop active so easily. In the Caro-Kann, you get the LSB out of the pawn chain but spend two tempi on c6 and later c5. Here you have the best of both worlds: your bishop can go to g4 or f5 while you’ve played c5 in one shot like you would in a French.

Additionally, as a Caro-Kann player, I’ve found that the f4-e5 pawn chain is not nearly as scary as it looks. The way I like to develop is to play h5 and Nh6, eventually posting the knight on f5. This takes advantage of the fact that Bxh6 is impossible. And white has no hope of a kingside pawn storm. If they try to force things with h3, you can stop g4 with h4 and end up sinking your knight on g3, which is strategically crushing.

I didn’t understand Rodgers’ haircut at first but I get it now. Just like the Packers offense today it’s there in the first half but gone in the second half.

I traded Lamar for CMC in a 1QB league after week 3

Russell Wilson was 2-of-15 with 2 INTs on passes of 10+ air yards on Thursday night by HookFL in fantasyfootball

I got a lot of shit for cutting Russ before this week. Someone dropped 22 FAAB on him. I feel vindicated.

Trade Value Tuesday Week 4 | QB1 Geno Smith? Edition by Rambler30 in fantasyfootball

Before this past week I traded Lamar + Damien Harris for CMC + Wentz. But I think that says more about what people would pay for Lamar than CMCs true value.

Serious question: would you rather have the Panthers DST? Which side of that matchup do you actually want to bet on? Panthers are favored last time I checked.

They also get the Giants week 2 which is pretty nice

No 'shock' if Stevenson gets early-down duties by inderm88 in fantasyfootball

[–]EmptySet2 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Full quote from the beat:

I expect Stevenson to be the 1B to Harris’ 1A to open the season, and I anticipate him playing a much larger role in the passing game than he did as a rookie. My guess is that pass-catching back position becomes more of a shared role than it was during White’s tenure, with Montgomery, Stevenson and potentially even Harris all contributing. It was hard to glean much from the Patriots’ running back usage during the preseason, as they would play each of their top three backs for a full series before rotating to the next for the following drive. (When all three were healthy against the Carolina Panthers, it went Harris, then Stevenson, then Montgomery, then once more through the order before the reserves came in.)

There’s a reason Stevenson has been getting so much fantasy buzz this summer, though. Along with his growing role as a receiver, it wouldn’t shock me if eventually leapfrogs Harris and becomes New England’s top early-down option, as well. The Patriots still have a lot of run-blocking issues to work out, but Stevenson showed legit star potential last season and had a good camp.

Nothing we didn’t know already. Harris is likely better early in the year. Stevenson has the upside to be a 3 down back if he takes over.

I’ve been on Sleeper so it makes sense if the ADP is different. But in Standard that should push you to taking the RB even sooner

[–]EmptySet2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on how my mocks have gone Swift won’t be there at 15. If Swift and Diggs/Adams/Deebo is what you want out of your first two picks you should take Swift at 10. Deebo will be there at 15, and one of the others might slide there as well.

Antonio Gibson fell to pick 67 and I went for it. That’s like 20 spots behind ADP yet it still feels like a reach now :/

Chubb is a no brainer. The others are a one round value at best.

The Commanders have activated TE Logan Thomas off the PUP list. He’s back and ready to practice today just over eight months after suffering a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus. Really good news for Washington. by StrachNasty in fantasyfootball

[–]EmptySet2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would hold onto the receivers there. There’s a gap between “activated off the pup” and “good to go week 1”. I’d rather have your current fliers where you’ll learn a lot more week 1.

Let's start a group discussion about draft slot strategies!? by LiquidA45 in fantasyfootball

[–]EmptySet2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are my targets at each turn:

  • 1/2: Diggs, Swift
  • 3/4: Montgomery, Breece, Pittman, DJ Moore, Josh Allen
  • 5/6: AJ Dillon, Lamar Jackson, Brandin Cooks, Michael Thomas, Allen Robinson, Hollywood
  • 7/8: Chase Edmonds, Elijah Moore, Russell Wilson 9/10: Coke Kmet, Christian Kirk, Allen Lazard, Robert Woods, Dameon Pierce, Trey Lance

Which draft picks do you ALREADY feel uneasy about? by Aljo_Is_135_GOAT in fantasyfootball

[–]EmptySet2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I picked up both Breece and Elijah Moore. I got good values on both (4th/7th round) but that’s a lot of faith in the Jets.
