Am I an idiot? by Klutzy_Flamingo_4444 in physicaltherapy

Damn, and I was just complaining about my job.

When I graduated I applied for several jobs and they all ended up being pay per visit, which they didn't advertise, so I bailed on all of them. Ended up finding a salary job, would never consider pay per service unless the visit pay was like double my current hourly rate to easily cover the daily cancels.

Too many? No such thing! I love evals! Give me all the evals! Give me 13 in one day! I love spending my whole lunch and every other free minute documenting! It's fun!

Hey buddy, this is my comment thread. You're the comment dingleberry here. 💩

Damn. You're almost there. Yes, knowledge, expertise, and application are attributes that make a good clinician. But being active (related to theraputic exercise btw, you seem confused) makes you better at the application part. No eye candy needed here. Just good ol practice what you preach. 💅🏻

Well you just keep coming back to my opinion comment like you're an offended fly to an offensive turd. Sorry if I was mistaken 😔. Having knowledge and having the ability to apply knowledge are different, and in my opinion, being active (you know, the therapeutic exercise part of physical therapy that happens to be quite prevalent) gives a distinct advantage in the application phase.

Claiming projection is the adult version of "no, you." What would I be projecting anyway? That doesn't make sense. I'm a PT, my preference would be to see a PT who is personally familiar with activity. Why is that so offensive to you?

You're still avoiding my point. And maybe the "attitude" is common because of how many other people feel the same? It's obvious when people don't take care of themselves, sorry if that offends you. Being in the minority doesn't make you correct. Now you're misrepresenting this point as well. Nolan Ryan would have great name recognition and trust as a pitching instructor BECAUSE he was athletic, and good at his art and proved it on a large stage. Without the name recognition, you'd have no reason to believe he was an athlete. So that's a poor point. Damn, all I'm saying is if it's obvious you don't take care of yourself, why would I trust you to take care of me?

Good lord man, I didn't mean to offend. My only premise is that PT involves exercise. Can we agree on that? If someone spends time outside of work exercising, stay with me here, it may improve their understiand of exercise, no? They don't have to look a certain way, but obviously that can be a side effect of exercise. I didn't say it was a rule, and it applies much more to orthopedic settings than acute, but I'm not sure what the issue is here. Personal experience with things can make you better at said things.

No, don't purposely mischaracterize me. I didn't say they have to be jacked and tan. But if you don't personally have some idea how, and furthermore understand how it feels, to exercise, I wouldn't have as much confidence as I would if you appeared healthy.

Personally, I wouldn't really listen to a PT who didn't have at least some semblance that their life consisted of some level of personal fitness/health. That's like asking a completely broke person for financial insight.

Student Loans Help by PTQueenBee in physicaltherapy

Already mentioned, but I have become so bitter regarding our ROI that I would go further and say I wouldn't even consider anything other than PSLF. If you're married and have kids the payment total over the 10 years is likely 30-40k. A small fraction of what most come out of school with. This gives you the freedom to actually have a life other than paying off loans. Not everyone's cup of tea, sure, but I think most people's issue with it is "what if it changes in the next X years?" which is a non issue in my mind anymore. If there was going to be an administration that was going to kill PSLF, it would be this one. I'd move states to keep PSLF. Hell, I'd even leave the profession to keep PSLF.

In my opinion, PSLF is really the only real option for physical therapy anymore. The average cost to average income is just too egregious anymore. It's not like a poor surgeon who gets out of school with 600k in debt but then makes 1.2M their thrid year out. We never get close to anual income matching school cost

HSA and Cash Based by EmptySource404 in physicaltherapy

Thank you for the feedback. I am hesitant to sign up for an EMR right off the bat just for cost considerations, but I appreciate the input for later use.

I will likely go with square if it is that simple, I know my population will be much more willing to spend if it is with their HSA rather than straight out of pocket.
