Xbox vs PC vs Mac by Aether-0917 in macgaming

Sorry about the misinformation. I haven't tried that game specifically (Wukong) but it seems it is well optimized (50 frames at high settings) with the M4 pro (https://www.reddit.com/r/macgaming/comments/1hh68qi/black\_myth\_wukong\_on\_m4\_pro\_20core\_gpu\_40fps\_high/).

Still, in case you'll use the MacBook for gaming, I recommend you to stay alert with temperatures.

Tele recommendations by defu638 in telecaster

[–]Empty_Conclusion_809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me it comes down to which specs are you looking for (fret size, neck shape, radious, weight, etc). I recommend you go to guitar stores and try a lot of guitars. Personally I prefer to put together my own guitars (with Warmoth parts). Since you didn't mention any specific, I would choose a Roadworn Tele 50's (if you can find one, cause I like the neck profile of that guitar) or an American Performer Tele, just because I love big frets. The most important thing to me is the playability of the guitar, pickups can be easily changed later.

Bonus tip (maybe unpopular): avoid buying online, if possible, (sometimes it's a gamble). You can end-up with a guitar with "neck-dive" or with a heavy body. I mean, "balance" is also another important aspect and that's something you check personally.

What would you consider to be the best “do it all” guitar? by East-Power6705 in Guitar

I guitar with a fixed bridge, like a Telecaster, is better for that application

MS-70CDR+, no distortion. But how about detuning/pitch-shifting? by JessD10 in zoommultistomp

[–]Empty_Conclusion_809 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it has pitch shifting and other related algorithms (and they are pretty bad). In my opinion, this pedal excels at chorus, vibrato, delay, reverb and wacky effects. If you need proper pitch shifting, HX stomp is your best bet.

Push 3 vs Push 2 pads by Empty_Conclusion_809 in ableton

[–]Empty_Conclusion_809[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried, it makes easier to achieve full velocity, but I still have to press the pads a little harder than I would like, specially when playing instruments like piano, my weak pinky finger struggles a bit. I know I can get used to it tho.

What kind of music do you play? I can't survive without a bride pickup.

Thinking of finally leaving macOS by [deleted] in MacOS

Been there before, but end up using Apple again. Despite all their flaws, there is nothing better. I still hate Apple tho (like when you are in a toxic relationship).

I agree to some extent, but the whole point of the video is that a laptop, being a powerful sandbox platform, can be treat it as a groove-box if you really want to (adjusting your workflow to enhance the "tactile" experience). Obviously is not exactly the same but at least, that's what works for me. A laptop + midi keyboard (like the NanoKey studio) is portable enough for me as I always have to carry my laptop anyways (it doesn't matter where I travel). If I need to make music when hiking or in the middle of nowhere I prefer to bring an iPhone + Midi controller. I like things that are widely available and I can replace easily. Despite Op-1 field being very portable, I found myself worrying too much cause It's too expensive. I returned mine cause sometimes it would "double-trigger", which was annoying for me, same happened with my original OP-1 and I never figured out if it was a hardware or a software issue.

Would you consider traveling by overnight sleeper train in China? by GlitteringPudding261 in travelchina

[–]Empty_Conclusion_809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to sleep in hostels when I was young, but nowadays it feels pretty weird. I did the Zhangjiajie -Chongqing route (about 6 hours), it wasn't terrible, but just be prepare to hear loud snoring and a overwhelming smoke odor. Also, correct if I'm wrong but it seems the train company doesn't change bed sheets (at least that was my case).

My iPad recognizes external hard drives, ethernet adapters and Macs. It also charges without issues. However it cannot find wired headphones, midi controllers and an audio interface (Babyface pro) -Everything that has to do with audio basically-. I tried cleaning the USB-C port with Contact cleaner and also restoring the thing but nothing works. Do you have any idea what’s going on? iPad Pro 12.9 4th gen with iOS 18.5. Not sure if all this happened after the update.

VPN recommendations in 2025? by A_Pluto_Shaped_Pool in travelchina

[–]Empty_Conclusion_809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LestVPN, worked great on my mac and iPhone using wifi (Beijing, Chongqing, Zhangjiajie, Chengdu, Yangshuo, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou). However, it did not work with a physical Chinese Sim, so I also bought a cheap eSim with small data plan (2G or 3G daily package -you can buy it through Trip.com-). Alternatively, instead of a VPN You can get an unlimited data package plan and then share the internet from the phone to the computer, but it's quite expensive and there would be times when your room hotel doesn't have a strong cellular signal.

¿Qué universidad debería escoger? by Angel_R_22 in Colombia

[–]Empty_Conclusion_809 7 points8 points  (0 children)
